Niteye zip20

I was just browsin' new stuff on HK equipment and found this titanium beast,at a whopping 469.00 not budget by far but cool nonetheless.Although unique,I couldn't help but feel I have seen this before.I did more poking around and found it is a copy of a company called cool fall and it's called spy 007.Did niteye commission this through them or is it a blatant rip-off?Maybe someone knows a bit more about this and can make sense of the clone deal.Conversely,I'd love to have this just not at that price.

You can find the company and owner on CPF, a well regarded member and light builder. I don’t own one, just really
an admirer of he’s hand built lights. Its a really a difficult market to keep your ideas from showing up
om someone else’s show room. As nice as the copy looks i would save the extra money
and get the real thing if i were in the market.

This copy has opened a whole bag of worms on CPL (post 7). Specifically, Sysmax have disassociated themselves from Niteye, calling them rip-off artists who stole the SPY design, and their own ring control. Niteye, post 59, in turn, are claiming that they actually own Jetbeam, and that Sysmax are simply a seller of Jetbeam .

Jetbeam even put up a warning pop-up on their web

Oddly enough I don’t have $460 for the copy, or $1200 for the original, so I’ll pass on the whole thing.

I’m still waiting for an inexpensive Chinese clone of this light.

haha Johnny. that's totally BFL spirit!

:D

it also means that we buyers didnt care about who rips off whom. only price matters. lol

Yes and no. There is no way in hell I’d ever pay $1200 for the real thing. If I bought a cheap clone for under $100 someone else who never saw the light might see it who were never exposed to a Spy and want the real thing and go buy it. Kinda like free advertising. I can’t believe it took so long for someone to steal the design.

Look up on the cost of raw 6AL4V then re-adjust the minimum price you wish to pay.

Damn that is expensive. Make it out of stainless and sell it for less.

Glad I don’t like it

As the saying goes in China.
” We’re not copying…………. it’s coincidence ”

lol

I saw all the hubbub in CPF but NiteEye removed it from there site before I got to see the clone. If I was rich I’d buy the spy007, but lotto max never comes through for me :frowning:
Thanks for posting, that’s one clone I wouldn’t buy on principle.
As for the other nockoffs, keep em coming

Dang!I stumbled into a flashlight politics nightmare.I was further reading the whole sysmax, jetbeam, niteye thing and wow, what a mess.Jetbeam is obviously not pleased with niteye and was quick to denounce any affiliation.I think the spy 007 owns a unique corner of the market and should not worry too much, there are tons of clones of just about every light.

No worries, I appreciate the info. There’s some lights that shouldn’t be copied. For me that’s any custom light made by a flashaholic.
As for manufacturers, well that’s why the have lawyers and patents

There, they’re, their

Hey, i hear some one copied your 3up heat sink…

Was that a pain in the ar!!!..Thanks to you i own the heaviest C2, and damn bright….Thank You…

I have contacted my sales rep at Sysmax to see if she can sort this out a bit for us.

Each of us have our own line and our own there

“Earnest declarations: SYSMAX Ind.(the sole owner of NITECORE & JETBEAM) and Niteye are NOT the same enterprise. As a famous flashlights manufactory and a member of PLATO, we SYSMAX feel shame about the counterfeit of SPY007 and the copied design of selector ring. At the same time, we strongly condemned the plagiarism from Niteye.”

It seems that it is not the 1st time that niteye found inspiration in competitors products:

The dispute between Niteye and Sysmax over the JETBeam brand seems to be more complicated. Niteye says that htey are the original producers of JETBeam and that Sysmax only licensed the brand and now claims full ownership on it. Therefore they decided to produce the lights under their own brand name. I don’t know who of these two is cheating whom, but the RRT01 seems to be out of production while the Eye10 is still available. We should just wait until there is a solution of the dispute between Niteye and Jetbeam because we don’t know the contracts concerning the JETBeam brand name.
