Another 1-2mm on slightly thicker legs should fix the quad optic, just enough to sit proud of the domes and adjustable with light sanding.

I think it’s the same 2 legged quad optic used on the S41/S41S

. I remember changing a bunch of them S41/S41S into triples because the optic sat on the LED pad and crushed the pad. Also when you tightened or removed the bezel you broke off one or both legs and sheared the domes off…sumtin like that..IIRC..

. I have a bunch of them in the junk box I pulled out from the ones I changed out…

. I used one in a FW3A (had to add a copper shim for the height to delete the glass lens) to compare to the 10621 Carclo beam…

Looks like most Luminus LEDs are on sale.
Very good price on SST-10 UV.
$5.69 for bare emmiter (56% off).

I guess the “return” section of the website is just for show. I submitted one over 2 weeks ago but no contact or further instructions.

No acknowledgement in this thread of the issues either. Can’t say i’m surprised based on past posts but in the future I will refrain from ordering new products and let other people be Kaidomain testers.

It doesn’t even say to send it back much less where to send it. I don’t see an address listed anywhere on your entire site and no one has contacted me so I don’t know why you are thinking I would have shipped this back for more than I paid.

Return #289 and #290

If the products don’t fit together you should remove them and take it up with your mfg. I’m not shipping unsellable product back.

Feel free to correct me if these products are good and let me know how they are supposed to be used.

We are using Quad PCB and Quad LENs to install on our LED drop-in module.

Please let me know how you use on the Quad PCB.

Please note that those are DIY component for your DIY application.

You need to make sure the dimension is correct for your application.

If our listing parameter is wrong, this is our fault.

We are not making any component that is suitable for specific branded flashlight. If we do so, the title that we use is for xxxxxxxxxx.

This is the aims of DIY.

Hope you can understand with it.

I get your message on our system.

“The holes in the MCPCB are too big and cause the optic to sit too far down on the MCPCB. It will crush the LEDs if you tighten it down”

The bigger holes on the PCB: We have plastic screw to stable the PCB and mount on the quad drop-in pillar.

The smaller holes on the PCB: It is just for LENs ‘s leg and avoid to move.

I don’t know how you use with Quad PCB and Quad Lens.

And you mention that is the LENs will crush if you tighten it down.

So what is the height of your flashlight’s head.

If it is too tight, will you consider to sand the LEN’s hole?

The hole in the lens is fine. The dome of LED fits as it should. The lens is going to rest on the base of the LED and crush it there. It does not need to go around the whole LED including base/substrate.

Did you try to put your module in a light with the lens and bezel tight?

@BanL – the problem is the legs on the optic just need to be a mm or so longer.

The optic is what it is, probably off the shelf part? The MCPCB is what KD specced out and the holes are too wide so it drops in too far.

A previous version of this optic/board combination from KD (I have one) had a thinner 1mm thick MCPCB which was also not good: the holes were either too wide or the optic needed a bit sanded off the legs. I never bothered to find out what exactly was wrong because I never used it, but it clearly did not work off the shelf, something had to be fixed.

I fully agree with you 1stein. BanL, can you please try to source some Osram Ostar Projection Compact LE R Q8WP LEDs? These are very powerful red light LEDs.

How’s performance?
I didn’t like it compared to the Carclo … it had a more visibly defined hot spot that had half ring artifacts around the spill… the Carclo has a smoother flood beam (depending on what type of LED used like dome vs de-domed) none to very little defined hot spot, better smoother flood spill the farther out the beam is shown, specially in the bigger heads like the X5, Convoy M1 and Surefire 6P… the Carclo in the FW3A was a smooth flood but gave a square beam profile, because the head is so small…and I had to turn the optic down so much to fit it…Carclo Quads don’t work real well in the FW3 size head…but the flood is smoother… just my 2cent…

Does anyone know if the MCPCB it comes with works with both 6V and 12V? I want to use it in the Thrunite T1 which is confirmed to be 12V. There’s no option to choose 6V or 12V on the order page.

Black MCPCB for xhp50/70 is only available in the 6V configuration

Edit.
T1 has a xhp50, which is smaller. How do you intend to use the xhp70 in this flashlight?

Pretty sure it is a standard MCPCB (2S2P, 6V). You need a Sinkpad XHP70 12V/6V MCPCB (upgrade shipping in LEDDNA I advice).

The reflector hole in the T1 fits the XHP70. I prefer buying it presoldered. Will just wait for other emitters to use in this host.

Has anyone used this driver? How bad is the PWM?
CF 17mm 0.9V – 3.3V 4 Groups 2 to 5-Mode Boost Driver Circuit Board

I am looking to rebuild a very old 1xAA light and want to add the ability to use a single 14500 as well.

The other concern is that it is only rated for 3V which would limit use to an AA or 3V lithium primary, not sure it would take a 14500.

EDC rotation:
FW1A, LH351D 4000k (second favorite)
FW3A, LH351D 3500k
FW3A, SST20 FD2 4000k
FW3A, Nichia 4000k sw40 r9080 (favorite light!)
FW3A, Cree XP-L Hi 5A3
