So I’m just finishing ordering my very first torch (Convoy L6) after posting here last week and im already thinking about getting a secondary torch. I would like a secondary torch that would be able to fit in my pocket ideally and could be used for close range light such as lighting up lanyard passes in a dark arena for security checks if that makes sense.
4 levels up to 360 lumens, no blinkies, very floody.
Compact and usb rechargeable, with battery check.
Can use as a momentary light, if you continue to hold the button it turns off when released.
Immediate access to moonlight or turbo.
by default (can be changed on the fly though) turns off after 30 seconds.
Keyring friendly, cap mountable, easy to hold in mouth.
No down side, as pocket friendly as most AAA lights, probably more so as flatter.
Also available as high CRI at lower lumens.
Unless the order has changed, the TG06S always starts on high. Not sure that would be good for close range work lighting something small in a dark arena. C8’s have a larger head and won’t fit all the way in most pants pockets. Jacket pocket may be OK.
BLF A6 (very bright, nice UI, nice quality), Thorfire TK18 (variable output via ramping not so well implemented but modes changing is very intuitive, beautiful, nice quality), Klarus XT2CR (nice UI, very good quality, usb charging), Astrolux S41 Nichia (very bright, very nice beam color), Imalent DM21T (a bit throwy, variable output via ring), Jetbeam Jet IIM (built like a tank, lockable momentary on, two mode “groups”, for the price it can be found it’s a steal) are among my favorites for daily pocket carry.
I carry a DQG Tiny 18650 most of the time. Super light and super small for a 18650 light. That or a Lumintop ECD05 are usually in my pocket. Although this Ultratac A1 has been found in my pocket most of the time lately.
I’m very interested in the Tiny . I have read reports about switch problems. Do you think the new ones have solved this ? What is a good sale price to look for? I have seen it suggested to add glue to the switch board but have not actually read any reports from someone who has tried this.
I bought mine back in Feb. I think. Have never had a switch problem. I had heard of a few problems but I don’t know if they were earlier models or any recently made models. You can usually find them for under $30. Check out and send PM’s to a few of the guys who always have the good coupon codes. Think I paid $25 and some change for my two. Again that was back in Feb though. I love the light, super lite and very good mode separation. I have knocked mine about quite a bit and they still keep chugging along.
I believe the switch problems were with the original “twisty” activated DQG Tiny 18650 lights. There were many problems with those and the one I bought had the problems also. You never know what mode you would get or even if it would turn on at times.
I’ve had two of the 1st. version side clicky switch Tinys for years and the switches have never given me any trouble at all.
