This is the kind of light I use in my boat at night to look for channel markers and or canals . The dim spill doesn't reflect much off the white interior of my boat , thus preserving my night vision.
I love AA, and pistol grip lights - none of the 3 walmarts I go by carry that B&D, only a more expensive rechargeable version similar to the stanley waterproof
and I saw the duracell at big lots but didn't buy it - after finding a review online I went in next time I went by and they were sold out
My local Wallmart has several if the lights similar to the lights you linked to but they come with C cells! They are $19 on clearence. Still a good mod possibality?
I just fired mine up this morning (it's not dark). Not too impressed really, but then again it's only 80 lumens! Build quality feels pretty good. Would like to hear a little review from Chicago and see what he finds inside.
the only reason I resisted the first time I saw it was the battery placement - it seems they're between the emitter and back plate, so adding an exterior heatsink might be problematic.
on the other hand - it might be worth the money just to rob the len(ses?)
Big reflector in that Duracell spotlight but all plastic housing means PITA to upgrade/modify. Almost had my sweetie stop and grab one for me but changed my mind after thinking about it for a minute.
When I worked for a towing company helping out a friend who owned it we went to a Walmart I believe in Lubbock, TX a few months ago and they had 5 of the Stanley Ultra Bright LED Spotlight (190 lumens) the yellow one in a discount bin for 12.00 a piece and he bought all of them. They charge up and are excellent for that type of work.. I got one from him and my son uses it in the Oil Field and it has really held up nicely. I think they sell for around 30.00 or so. That thing has taken a beating and he now calls it his Timex Light.
yeah, i'm a big fan of those, i have the first version and the newer floating waterproof, drop resistant...
i'd prefer modes to ramping - or at least memory for the ramping, - and an easily removeable battery pack - but they're good lights...can't have it all i guess
You know, while I was at Big Lots I also nabbed me one of these Energizer 4 bay NiMh chargers which operates each channel independently for $10 with (4) 2300mAh batteries (not LSD, at least I don't believe). It does appear to be just a "dumb" timer based charger (based on research online), but it's still a step above my current cheap chargers which charge in pairs - plus I got 4 new cells. It was an impulse buy. Saw it on the rack, had no time to research it, and just grabbed it.
Awaiting your photos Chicago X.

(Sorry if we're pulling this thread away from the B&D and making it about the Duracell.)
