I just received my Trustfire Mini SS light with 1xCR123A and this is my first one of this size, I really like this light and wanted another.
I’m now in the hunt for something moddable but still relatively small.
Looking for something that Can be modded with XM-L emitter(16mm) and NANJNG 1.4A driver.
Wanted it to be really small, something less than 70mm or near that number.
The Mini01 I got is 60mm plus the keychain attachment. It seems the one sold by Ric is too long, anyways I just ordered a DQG AA NW from him and now waiting for it to arrive, maybe in 3 weeks.
I’m currently downsizing my Everyday carry specially during days where in i’m just going to carry a small bag with me.
This project is for a Pocket Monster. My P60 lights is usually in my Bag together with my Roche F12, Both XM-L NW.
I converted a half dozen Ultrafire A30Bs to 16mm XMLs with 17mm Nanjg drivers. The strike bezel is easily filed down also so it doesn’t rip your pocket. I have beenusing mine daily for over a year and the switch has been holding up to 2.8 amps of daily use. I also sold one to my friend who is a painter and he uses his daily for over a year as well with no failures.
My EDC one fell off my motorcycle onto pavement at 30mph and got scratched to hell but the glass lens didn’t even break. I have another in my bug out bag and one in my bathrobe for walking around at night
Thanks E1320 for the recommendation,
I’ll put that on my list.
Is the light able to stand 2.8A on high for a few minutes? I also have those drivers on my DIY parts, I’m just a bit tentative in using too much power in a small package. also what will tend to go wrong if I mod a small twisty 1xCR123 light with a 2.8A driver?
Yes the light can stand 2.8 amps for about a minute or two before it get to hot. I use my custom 5 mode driver si I have a 1.4 amp high and a 2.8 amp trubo it will run on high indefinetly without overheating and puts out tons of light. My painter friend clips his to his baseball cap and runs it on high all day everyday while painting inside.
The MXDL is also a popular twisty light to mod. I used an XRE R2 in mine with a direct drive driver because I thought it was to light weight for a properly driven XML. It would be fine with an XML if it maxed out at 1.4 amps.
I just bid for two Trustfire MINI 01 on diff post in ebay and both the seller approved, now I got spares, will try to mod one and another will be a gift probabaly to my dad, still looking for a good host for modding with 16mm led and 17mm driver.
Been looking for an Ultrafire A20 and it seems to be out of stock, also been contemplating in getting an A30B.
Been reading and learned that a lot of 1xCR123A lights is not mod friendly, atleast with an XM-L 16mm and 17mm NANJNG driver.
Could anyone give a list of 1xCR123A lights that fits these to have more options before deciding?
Bought a lot of parts, host that don’t match before and I couldn’t afford to do that again.
If you only own one ! The Ultrafire was the one to have , as it only needed a emitter swap .
But with a 1.4A 3 mode driver , its a 400+ Lumen pocket rocket …
With the ultrafire driver , its a 700+ Lumen pocket rocket .
I was modding the A20 when the SSC P7 was the hot rod emitter , and Im still tempted to buy more , but Im trying to keep it at 5 , dont want to go down the Solarforce L2 road .
Im just waiting for the next hot emitter . Im almost XM-L’ed out .
Still have a few lights I want to XM-L . [ Mod ]
http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S007019 KaiDomain always had them , then DX got them [ Sold out @ DX ]
Ive seen them on a few other HK dealers , But the Ultrafire is gone , and its now Uniquefire A20 [ Which I have 2 off ]
I know you said you didn’t have the right tool to file the bezel on the A30B but all I used was a standard file to get the sharp edges rounded so it doesn’t rip your pocket while clipped in.
