New Fireflylite Flashlights arrived! They are absolutely amazing!

I own between 500 to 700 flashlights and I have to say these new FF lights are some of the best I’ve seen. Fireflies have always been my favorite flashlight maker because they are willing to try new features craved by the hardcore flashlight geeks and push boundaries unlike the typical manufacturer. Their new lights uses some of the most efficient if not the most efficient driver on the market. The tint on FF’s own LEDs are also fantastic and measure negative DUV (rosy)! The flashlights are unbelievably beautiful!

I am waiting for my first FF! I pre-ordered a X1S Pharos on 3rd of January. I am still waiting for it to be shipped.
Honestly I really tried to find the perfect travelling flashlight. I searched for Anduril + efficient driver + high CRI + USB-C port for charging. Also I looked up for a beam that can throw, but should also be useful for every day things. The X1S is the only one that I found that has everything that I wanted for.

Thanks for the measurements! And…500 to 700 flashlights is a reeaaaallly impressive collection!

I just recently ordered the NovMu v2 with only 2700Ks, hopefully it arrives as ordered as that’s a “secret menu item” ^^.

If it’s as great as some people say, then I might have to order more of their lights ^^.

Just looking at the results - funny how the the NOVMU, E07x and E12R all top out at about the same lumens. Wonder if that’s a complete coincidence or by design

That poor Culnm1 looks over driven.

Not necessarily. I have a Wuben E6 with CSLNM1 (or PM1, don’t know) which also have duv of -0.0113 at 8271 K CCT.
And it is pretty sure that in my Wuben E6 the LED is not overdriven.

1 Thank

At 6A it definitely is overdriven, it either needs a resistor swap or a throttled firmware (or disabled turbo as stop-gap)

1 Thank

The 2000k CCT jump from high to turbo gives it away.

I guess “overdrive” is subjective

Tests of the Culnm1 show it peaks at 6a. If it has dd turbo and a high current cell it would exceed that I’m sure.

Not in my E6, this is what I meant.
The CULNM1 ist btw marked by Osram as obsolete.

Completely coincidence. If you look at my older tests by searching under my name, you will see that some of them tests significantly higher than 4.3k lumens. What impress me the most is the 7x FFL351A is as bright as the 12x 519A 2700k DD.

I wouldn’t say coincidence. The drivers (they all have the same driver except the X1S) are limited in the E07x to about 20-22 A on Turbo, so the outputs will be about the same. Warmer tints are lower output anyway, so the 2700k will never be a bright as the 5000K or 4500K. My novmu with 4500k e21a did 5400 Lumens at start.

Right, that makes sense. Thought it might be something along those lines, just didn’t connect enough dots I guess ^^.

Impressive that the dedomed 2700K 519As in the E12 put out so much light with such a low CCT and no dome (as the NovMu and E7 have pretty much the same CCTs)

@Sk9 finally someone with X1S both emitters FFL and Cree  so happy
I’ve the canon and couldn’t be happier with this kind of light but I would like also the X1S, I meant same beautiful look and functionality but thrower. Cannot decide between the 2 emitters.
Please can you tell me the real difference between the two, which is more satisfying for you and so.
I hate greenish tint and love the rosy of FFL.
I know it has to be a balance between different characteristics but appreciate your opinion. Thanks really a lot dear

It’s hard to choose really. The XHP50.3 is so much brighter but the tint is meh. However I’m amazed how FF was able to source an XHP50.3 HI CRI that is actually neutral and even slightly rosy at high outputs. I’m not sure if they got lucky or if they sourced for a specific tint bin like 5D, which this could be, though this is not as rosy as other low CRI 5D bins I’ve seen. FF is the only flashlight manufacturer that is very tint sensitive so it might be he selected this batch intentionally. I’ve tried dozens of XHP50.3, XHP35.3, XHP70.3 high cri emitters and they are all positive DUV unless you slice the dome on the domed ones. As for the FFL505A, the tint is much better and I love the perfectly round hotspot due to the round die, just much dimmer.

For me I have the T1R with the FFL505A so with the 21700 tube, it is basically the same as the X1S with the same emitter, unless there’s some difference I’m not aware of, so I’m happy with my collection right now.

The FFL351A is also domeless like a dedomed 519A. I wish someone can do an emitter test on the FFL351A. With that said, I like both of these emitters. The dedomed 519A is the warmest 3535 95+ CRI emitter in existence and I love super warm tint for night time use.

That ffl351a is like a cree xp-l hi, but high cri and super rosy. That xp-l hi was never offered in R9080 or such a rosy tint.

Interesting, they don’t offer E21A 5000K on their website, was it a special request or a mod?

When I ordered, they ran out of 4500k, which is what I was looking for. They only had 5000k and 2700k so I got the mix. I see now that they have 4500k and no longer list 5000k. I might buy another 4500k because I like it so much.

I’ve asked about whether they have the E21A in 5000K/2000K. This is wat I got:

“I’m sorry we don’t have the NOV-Mu V2 available with the Nichia E21A emitter in 5000K and/or 2000K now, while just the options showing in our store.”

“Maybe later we will add these options in furture.”

I really hope they do.

I just received my NOV-Mu V2 in Fossil Grey MAO, got the secret menu 2700K only, and now I have a really big problem - no other flashlight I own is even close in fit&finish quality, this light blows it out of the water in this department :open_mouth:. The machining is absolutely flawless and detailed, the new MAO finish is really something (I already had a couple MAO lights, but this is different, more texture one might say while still silky smooth yet grippy, really hard to describe with words) and the shiny diamond black vep coating is real nice, pops against the MAO (got the coated tailcap for a nice symmetric look to boot).

Apart from that, the 2700K E21As are really nice, the light is plenty bright on max, while barely sipping joules at low power levels.

On the other hand I also have really stiff threads (they are smooth, but require superhuman strength to tighten fully), ordered some nyogel, hopefully that helps.

As for the rest, the switch works ok, the aux are a bit too bright for my liking (but that’s due to it being a mule, nothing wrong with the light itself), the new anduril soft start/stop feels so luxurious, especially with the warm CCT it’s very cozy.

After that I couldn’t help myself and ordered an X1S with the 4000K XHP50.3  can’t wait for it to arrive

1 Thank

Glad you like it. Be careful…the MAO finish is fragile and chips/scuffs easily.

Lube on all 4 of my new fireflylites didn’t help the super stiffness a whole lot. It did a little, but the issue is in the poor tolerances between the tubes o-ring groove and the tailcap. A slimmer o-ring would help most here.

But, overall i think these are still wins from Fireflylite and they’ll only get better (i hope).
