I just received this light from DX, but as brted have allready done a spendid review here
http://www.budgetlightforum.com/node/273 I´ll only comment on the led.
The led is a MC-E warm white P60 dropin. Picture here:
http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/8295/mcewarmwhite.jpg
As you can see the thread are rather dirty, but it works allright.
Led well centered and a spacer is inserted between the led and
the reflector to get rid of the donuthole. In that they have succeded
as the hole is nearly all gone.
I am a little disappointed of the brightness. I had expected more. At the
switch it only draws 0.5 amps. Should be much more I think. I have not
disasembled the pill so I dont know which driver they have provided, but
this is probably doomed to be exchanged for at better one.
Color of light is very decent. Much more natural white than the warm White
dropin from KD. See picture here:
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/1320/mcewarmwhite2.jpg
All together a very nice light. Decent quality for a price not more than for the
dropin alone. This is destined for a Solarforce when I have changed the driver,
and the light wil get a R2 I have laying around somewhere.

Damn, that's a hella nice color, but need to factor in time and ~5-10$ for driver replacement.
However, it is possible you just got lucky in the tint lottery? If you look at this: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=293912, it looks somewhat closer to your KD xp-e.

Im very happy with the color of the MC-E. The KD one are rather yellow in comparison.
When using it around the house for testing all colors are totally natural, not the cold
light blue from a normal Cree.
I need to take out the driver one of these days and see what I have got. In other forums
I have read that most DX drivers dont deliver more than 1000mA. This is certainly not to
overdrive the led, but on the other hand it stays cool and you dont fry the led.
Mayby I´ll try to exchange the small wires which feed the led with some which are much
thicker, should give at least 250 mA.
I may also try to run in direct drive. I´ll test it with my lab power supply first. If I use thin
wires I may get the resistance I need to not overdrive it. Maybe a small resistor must
be used.
The cheapest way is to buy a cheap 1.2 to 1.4 buckdriver at DX, but then I´ll not get the
most out of it.

There's a decent $5 2.x amp driver at dx. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.20330
What's weird is that the guy at cpf above also has both these "warm" products, and his mce is MUCH brighter than the kd xp-e... (definitely around 2A), which just re-inforces that you pay your money and get random lights from HK.

Thanks agenthex, but the mensioned driver is 25 cm and will not fit in a P60.
ShiningBeam has one which I consider for the moment. One can count on the
specs found at his site.

How about this driver:
http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=1845 ?
I ordered this drop-in also, because don't need more P60 hosts:
http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10951
Don't know how it will performing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just beat you with a day as I have allready ordered the
driver from KD. The specs looks promising..
I dont know the ww mc-e dropin from KD, but I certainly hope its brighter than the one
I got in my WF502B. Please give us an update when you get it.

Little OFF, but this 5-mode drop-in with (fake) solarforce host looks like a good deal also for $20.76:
http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=10965
I have an orig. L2 and L2X host already. L2X is very very nice but more expensive. I want to use the ww MC-E drop-in in it.

I did see that when I considered buying a MC-E, but as I have several (original) Solarforce
allready, I bought the WF502B from DX in stead. It had a clip too, which I needed.

To continue my original post above, I have today changed the original driver (se picture at brted´s review)
with this:http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=1845 from KD. It was supposed to be
a 5 mode, but I was lucky as they sent me a wrong one, a 1 mode as the original.
Now the light is very bright and instead of drawing 0,5 amps it now draws 1.2 amps measured at the tail.
There is no pwm sounds to be heard. Its a much better light now.

This looks like the same driver I bought from ebay see
http://budgetlightforum.cz.cc/node/742
It only pulls 1.2amps!!!!
I'm was expecting 2.8amps.

I have also expected more power, but at least I more than doubled the output.
Seems like a lottery, when some talk of 2,8 amps and others get 1,2. The Ebay
vendor guarantee 2,8 amps. Some guarantee

1.2amps??? Not much.
This driver (new on KD) looks very promising:
http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10995
Description say 1100 mA but with 8*7135 it must be a 2800 mA board.
I ordered a few right now.

Driver + LED + Battery = performance ...
Its not just the driver , it also depends on the LED , and battery ....
A bad LED may perform half as well as a good one . When I moded my A20 to SSC P7 , I ordered a D***i bin LED , but its weak , it only pulls about 1.2A , now in a CR123A light thats ok ..
But I did hope for 2A , which is what my first one did [ A20 SSC P7 mod ] , I have been very disappointed with the last few D-bin SSC P7 emitters Ive gotten , I hate to say it but the C-bins have been better .
Out of some 4 D-bins , only 1 has been good , the rest very disappointing , so for now I have given up on the SSC P7 , expensive rubbish ..
Been waiting on the XM .... Got parts ready to roll ... a XM @ 2A should kill a SSC P7 or MC-E at the same current level .

I got the $20 "solarforce" p60 MCE-warm from KD. http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10965
It's very nice. 1.7A draw, donut hole, but everything else is excellent.
The body is a solarfarce, but just as nice quality as the real thing (much better than 504b at DX). Tailstands and flat bezel. 5 modes, WORKING memory. Quite a nice tint.
Highly recommended.

Glad that I ordered one this week.
I didn't know KD was more gambling than DX (though I didn't have any problems with DX so-far).

Do we have a female member? Sounds a bit odd but not totally unrealistic, who knows...
I find this forum almost exclusively male "sport" oriented althrough nothing wrong if a lady kicks in. It is like searching for a male in wedding dresses forum. :D
