Personally I really like the action of the switch on this. I think there were some complaints it was “mushy” or “sloppy” or something, I think I said this before but to me it seems like a just a longer “throw” than other side e-switches that feel more “precise”
I think why I like it is that it takes less effort to use. But interestingly it seems more effort for accidental turn on.
Owned a D4 XP-G2 model and now own the XP-L HI model…I’d be surprised if I could hold either of them more than 15 seconds on FULL brightness without gloves (which I rarely wear). Their highest levels are definitely for “show” or for quick scans of an area far away. If I were interested in sustained brightness to a larger area at some distance, I always picked up the Acebeam EC 50 Gen II that was mentioned here earlier (excellent light I sold recently to fund something else). This Thrunite definitely looks like a nice blend of features and power to me.
I’ve been using mine every day, and so far the switch has not acted up like it did a few times in the beginning. As far as a mushy feel, I’m not experiencing that. I love the switch action. Overall, I’m very happy with the TC20.
I preordered the tc20 and estimate shipping date was feb 23. Thrunite has shipped my tc20 2 days ago… i will get it on thursday. My shockli imr is charged and ready.
Mine arrived today, charged the battery using the internal charger to make sure it worked (it did, measured the battery after charging stopped and it was at 4.19V). Took it out after dark and gave it a test, very nice. Good tint, definitely lit up the back yard. Very happy with this one!
I hear rumour of a Lumintop competitor coming out shortly. Similar size and specs. And it looks great IMO. The Lumintop ODF30. Thoughts anyone? (Sorry, don’t mean to de-rail the thread)
More info on the ODF30 please. If there’s a link that would be great
In regards to the TC20, Since I got the tube issue orientation sorted out, mine has been great and I like it a lot. The included 5000mah 26650 has been really good
It appears they tried their best to make a comparable flashlight, even the (introductory) price is the same, but there needs to be something special that says “Buy me instead”
The 3 lower modes are a lot higher, not sure if that’s good or bad, depends on the user, just sayin’

I don’t see an option for NW?
Looks like a rubber switch boot, good or bad? Again, depends on user preference.
Not sure what Limuntop does for their UI’s but I don’t think there’s a better UI than what the TC20 has, it’s become my favorite UI.
Dimensions are basically the same, but for some reason the Lumintop appears slightly longer, optical illusion I suppose…
Personally I prefer knurling, especially the awesome “near tool grade” knurling on the TC20, its better knurling than any other flashlight I own. The only light that even comes close in my collection is my old XENO Eo3 v2. (I’m a freak for aggressive knurling)
I perfer the modes on the tc20, specially the .5 lumen moonlight. Thrunite is a premium brand IMO, the lumintop would have to be drastically less expensive for me to buy it.
Thanks for your input, I agree with all of your points.
Especially the knurling point. As a ex-machinist, I LOVE aggressive knurling. Honestly most lights have feeble useless knurling that turns me right off of even considering the light.
I agree, I loved my xeno and the awesome knurling on it.
