Are there any options besides Ric to get the NW version? I’m liking it more and more, but Ric sometimes takes up to 6 months to get an order to me, most were 3+ months before I got them from him so I really would rather not….

ok we will wait some hours until you are free/able to test the lumens on low with nimh…. I guess obviously it will give a lot less lumens on low with nimh instead of 14500. thanks!
ok – did the deed
Full Mode test on Eneloop Pro NiMH cell at 1.3v:
“very low” mode: 2.9 lumens
“low” mode: 11 lumens
“high” mode: 102 lumens
Full Mode test on Primary alkaline cell at 1.6v:
“very low” mode: 3.4 lumens
“low” mode: 12 lumens
“high” mode: 108 lumens
This “very low” to me is acceptable as a moonlight mode.
Just got my SC01, SC02 and SC03 in hot off the mail truck. I’ll do some photos for a quick review and then it’s likely that some/all will go to DayLighter. Thanks Trevi_lux for the comparison to the Olight S15. Right now I’m torn between a Ti D25A clicky and the Ti Olight S15 and leaning toward the Olight because it has moonlight mode.
The PWM isn’t nearly as obnoxious with the low mode ramped up. My wife and son couldn’t see the PWM and the wife took the SC02 and put it in her desk drawer and said “MINE” lol. These are interesting lights. I would definitely pay double for one with a better driver. I’ll probably use these as beaters.

I’m old and fussy. This week I’ll have my Ti S15 which should better suit me. But the SCxx lights are fine lights if you are not susceptible to the low frequency PWM, which I happen to be. Everything else about them is solid. Some minor fit and finish issues with mine like the mis-aligned button, but overall I think they are a good value. The output on high is superb, but you have to go through low to get to high. It remembers the ramp setting so I can mitigate the effects of the PWM by keeping low ramped up to where the light is basically high and turbo. The SC02 goes to the wife and the SC03 will probably replace the cheap CR123A light in my truck emergency kit. The SC01 will probably be just a beater.
But yeah, so far these are really making me want the S10 and S15. At least I learned that I really like the electronic side switches
Haha, they have reverted the price. It was $13 when I landed on their site 5hrs ago. I added 2 pieces in my cart but it cos $15 or so per piece and I did not proceed further.

Wow.
Alone the “way” from FT’s ‘Shipped’ status to Singapore Post’s ‘Information Received (This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)’: 5 days.
Another 2 days for shipment: ‘Despatched to overseas (Country code…)’.
This was 2.5 weeks ago.
Since that day it’s somewhere between unknown/random location and customs.
Pretty quick indeed. To central Europe it took a little bit more time. FT shipping information 28th March and than:
02-04-2014 Information Received (This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)
04-04-2014 Despatched to overseas (Country code: PL)
11-04-2014 Arrived at overseas (Country code: PL)
14-04-2014 Product Delivered (Country code: PL)
I received my SC01 the other day and finally got around to playing with it. I like it a lot! I've only got an NiMh in it now, but plan a Lithium Primary for it for glovebox duty eventually. Boy is this thing small! Even after seeing pics it was smaller than I expected! PWM doesn't bother me and the tint, like TomE says is a typical "cool white"- no hint of green or purple that I see. Very impressed for the price!

I got 3 more SC03 from fasttech today, damn… they’re fast, received it after 9 days including weekend!
I also got 2 of these Yupard mini 16340 lights although there’s nothing mini about them
they’re 22mm taller than SC03 BUT it can out throw SC03 for about 1/3 of the price of SC03
definitely worth for the price I paid for them less than $6
comparison shot of them two lights

I received the Yupard today and it has a purple colored beam, also didn’t realize the lens was plastic. It looked like it had a clear protective plastic cover on it, so I tried to remove the plastic….ehhhh…scratched the cheap plastic lens. Stole a glass one off another cheap light and now it looks better, but no where near as nice of tint as the 14500 model form the same seller.
But, like you said, for less than $6 I am happy.
It was my first aliexpress purchase, but will not be my last.
Thanks!
Keith

Bought one of each after reading the feedback, how does the SC02 compare with the Roche F6.

BG has SC01 CW/NW for $23 before coupon
I guess not but … have low battery warning?
No - no direct to high.
Also not sure how it handled a low/drained battery.
Hey tom can you do some measurements on 14500, im curious as to what the low low will be.
Tom has already provided that information:
14500:
“Very low” mode: 14 lumens
“Low” mode: 56 lumens
“High” mode: 544 lumens
Guess i missed that, thanks for pointing it out.
Here we see two real images of the 3 SolarStorm SC together:

Nobody provides more information? Or pictures?
Video? Review? Anything? I’m impatient for my Solarstorm SC family arrives.
Work with flat-top batteries? have spring in the positive pole?
Excellent info. Thanks. Looks like a winner here.

For NiMH I do not like but great power with14500. Quality is not bad.
Quick pic, SC01 vs. some other AA lights:
From left: Nitecore D10, SC01, ITP SA1, Jetbeam RRT-0 with AA extender.

not quite the recommendation Tom gave them
13$ each if you buy 10.

its a great light for the price… pwm is crappy on the lowest setting, but it gets better if you ramp it up a hair
the light range isnt great… theres the ramping mode which seems like it goes from medium to high and then a turbo which is slightly brighter than high
i like the light though for the price – i have the 14500 model coming from BG in neutral white
i will def use these lights as everday users/beaters

Mine shipped April 4th and 8th and I got both packages yesterday. That’s 6 days from China to WA state for the SC03 … impressive.

These are perfect for keeping in vehicles. Good build quality and cheap enough to where it won’t be painful if it gets lost or stolen.
