Thank you, I placed my order.

Great video review, thanks!

Yeah, me too, and reviews like this make it a hard wait, so please stop it… LOL, kidding, thanks for the review!

Very good review VB! :+1: Quality you can see and feel, pretty much sum’s it up !

Excellent video. I’m loving my L6 with the neutral emitter. I noticed what looks like bare aluminum showing where the bezel meets the head on yours. Maybe it’s just the way the camera picked up a reflection?

BTW, if they release the rumored bare aluminum version, I’m picking one up in cool white.

A reflection no doubt as it disappears when his hand goes over/around it.

I didn’t notice that. Thanks pal

Well….I would say that Thorfire S70 is better, why:

- the build quality is nearly the same

  • the lumen output and candels too, especialy after a sping bypass

Yet it has a side switch that shows the battery condition, plus its package is ways better: it comes with a spare AR glass and most important: a carrying band: this is a must have for such a big light

And ofc as all we know their price is virtualy the same too

I personally think the L6 is far superior aesthetically. It looks expensive while the ThorFire looks like a typical Chinese no name flashlight to me. Just my opinion. The L6 performs great. Not saying it’s better than the ThorFire in that respect because I don’t, and never will have the S70.

I disagree, the quality of the S70 is no where near the L6, I have both too! The S70 is a close copy of the Jaxman X6 nothing “Original” there but an e-switch?. I have several of X6’s too and they are quality way past the S70. The machining and quality of the L6 and most Convoy’s stand right up there with some of the best, minus a few creature features! Most I can live with out. But this is Just my opinion, which only matters to me!

Mine hit Chicago today.…Oh The Horrorrrrr….

:confounded:

waitin’ on the jack-boots to let ’er through

At first I though so too with the belt as another plus for the S70.
But after reading so much raving reviews I am not sure anymore
A L6 is in transit so when it is in I can really compare them.

So you dont have S70 but you think it quality lacks?
It doesnt lacks m8, not at all, its absolutely the same as L6, i own several of them both: yet i use only S70 simply cause it has a carrying strip and still there is no suitable one for L6- thats the main L6 issue that i have met so far.

L6 could be made shorter and thats an advantage ofc, if SImon makes a SMO reflector for it it would be defibately a huge “hit”

Apparently smooth reflector is coming. I’m holding out for that then I won’t be able to resist.

I never said it wasn’t quality. I said it looks aesthetically like a typical off brand Chinese flashlight . You don’t have to agree with me, that’s fine. The L6 blows it away in that regard.

Mitko, I plan on using one of those thick lanyards with adjustment buttons to UAE the belt on the L6 since I also like it very much of the S70.
Abtglenn, from the pics I like the looks of the L6 more, however in the dark practicality and light output matters (and the lower low and no turbo stepdown seem advantages of the L6 here)

My personal opinion: I have both the S70 and L6, and the machining imo is not on the same level between the two.

The S70 has a shiny anodization that feels a bit cheap (ok, really cheap). Which is weird because it’s younger brother, the S50, has incredible anodization.
The S70 is riddled with sharp edges. The place where the body meets the threads that connect to the head have already cut two o-rings. The cooling fins don’t have a bevel at the edges. Even the tailcap has these long ovals machined that are sharp feeling (although provide good grip to remove the tailcap). The removable ring is also a bit sharp to hold. There’s lots of small pits and dents throughout the aluminum body.

In use, none of those things are a problem. My biggest complaint is the shiny ano though. Most of the sharp edges aren’t felt by the hand unless you purposely try and feel for them, but they’re there.

The L6 on the other hand is freaking incredible. Every edge has a bevel to it, so there’s no sharpness to be felt. The anodizing is perfect. It’s not as matte as a Convoy/Thorfire C8, and not as shiny as a standard quality ano. And the knurling is so well done, it beats the pleasure ridges on the S70 by a lot.

This is just my opinion. I’m not trying to say that anyone is wrong.

The S70 has it’s place. I’d only give an L6 to people that are well informed about the use of lights (basically just me). If I was gifting a light to anyone else not informed (basically everyone I know), it’d be the S70. The turbo timer and battery indicator are awesome features. Carrying it like a purse sounds silly, but is VERY helpful.

  • Chevy or Ford ...whatever is more comfortable
  • 9mm or 45....nobody wants to get hit with either
  • Chocolate or Vanilla...whatever one likes

I think there is some splitting of hairs here. To me it seems that VOB's point is that nobody will get hurt with the purchase of a Convoy L6....and nobody has ever gotten hurt with the purchase of anything that Simon manufactures ;)
