I believe the fix implemented propagates to all builds of Anduril, so if Fireflies uses an updated build for future lights, it should be resolved.
That said, this is so minor it almost seems unfair to even call it a bug. It only occurs in a very specific circumstance, which I’d say is a less preferably of the two way ways to ramp up from moonlight, and the consequence is only that you have to release and then hold the button one extra time to ramp up.
I ordered one the night the $55 sale was announced. I checked again only like 4 maybe 5 days later and the $55 price was no longer available. I believe it was just a super flash sale
I ordered the rot66 from the $55 sale which jumps to $83 if you include 219b emitters and 3 × 30Q cells . They finally accepted my paypal but I haven’t received a nice, warm and cozy confirmation email or anything at all+ from http://ff-light.com (yep there’s no s in http). I checked out as a guest, so technically I don’t “exist” if I attempt to login. I will attempt contact eventually but I’ll wait a while before I get my feathers ruffled and have to get Mr. Paypal involved. Just looking for reassurance that I’ll get what I paid for. So whats others experience with http://ff-lights.com?
I ordered the same less the 30Q’s. I noticed a very strange delay on their site. I received no confirmation or paypal charges for 2 days but amazingly my order was processed shipped and billed the same day!
Order 04/24
Billed 04/26
shipped 04/26
it was nice to be billed on the ship date instead of paying and then waiting a few days or even weeks before you order ships!

I think that’s basically what happened for me when I ordered mine sometime last year – silence for a while, then a shipping notification. I don’t remember how long it was between making payment and receiving the shipping notice.
$83 including batteries is a great price for this light.
I’m having issues with them for a warranty replacement. Despite their claims of IPX8 waterproof rating, I fell into a pool with it and the head immediately filled with water. I contacted them and they said they would provide a replacement head but that was over a month ago and I have yet to recieve any shipping notice. I’ve repeatedly tried to contact them but have been met with nothing but silence, unfortunately it’s too late for me to dispute the charge so right now I’m left with an expensive brick.
It’s a shame, I really like this light, it was one of my favorites but at this point I’m wary of doing business with them again.
UPDATE – I did finally recieve a message back from them, they said they would update me tomorrow on the shipping. Assuming they follow through I’m feeling much better. It would be nice if they were more communicative though.
@pooptoast, did you have a go at finding out why it was not waterproof, like a o-ring missing or so? Here at BLF people are curious about that, also because many have a ROT66 too.
I haven’t taken it apart so I don’t know. The head is still glued and the o-ring is intact between the head and battery tube. If I don’t have to send back the damaged head I can take it apart later but I want to make sure I get the working replacement first.
Just wanted to update. Yesterday I was finally provided with a tracking number for the replacement head. This is a little disappointing since it’s been over a month since I reported the issue. That said, assuming the replacement comes and is in good order I will be satisfied, I do understand that these smaller manufacturers can’t respond as quickly as some of the larger ones.
Once the replacement arrives I’ll do my best to open up the old head and see if I can figure out why it leaked so quickly. I might try to test the new one as well but I’ll have to figure out how to do so without risking damage.

In general, flashlight companies should update the firmware whenever possible. The code has continued to change over time, and old build targets remain supported… so it should be pretty easy to do the update any time a new batch of drivers is produced.

Over a month of waiting, yikes. Glad they got back to you.
No more 219B option for the remaining ROT66s. The E07 is now the only Fireflies light available in 219B. I asked if the updated ROT would have 219B but haven’t heard back.
I got my rot66 in the mail today. It was flickering and couldn’t ramp up but after cleaning the contacts, adding a paper spacer to the tail cap, tightening the battery carrier screws and tightening the head and tail cap enough to be a PITA, it finally operates normally. The Nichia 219 color rendition is splendid and Anduril is such a intuitive and fun interface.

I guess that’s why V2 uses a contact ring instead of a battery carrier.
Asking this before pulling apart the light. Is there a mode in Anduril for the ROT66 that has ramping functionality, but no specials modes (e.g. no voltage check sunset, ect, no strobe modes, no turbo.)? Only 2 of the switch leds are on. When I do the 7 click thing to turn back on the other 2 leds, they sometimes turn on, but go out when I try to go into any of the special mods (which still don't work). I can't find any electrical connection issues. I haven't yet tried to gain access to the glued driver, but it feels secure when I try to wiggle the driver spring. I think it has the version of Anduril that had a small ramping bug from moonlight. I think this because it would sometimes not ramp directly from moonlight. The ramping behavior seems spot on. So it seems the switch itself is working properly.
So, is there a special mode of operation like this and is there a way out of it? I don't really want to break out the driver if I don't have to.

If I understand correctly, it sounds like it should be able to get back to normal operation by clicking 6 times. It may just be in muggle mode, which has ramping and not much else.
Just wanted to update. Yesterday I was finally provided with a tracking number for the replacement head.
I wasn’t so lucky. Mine arrived defective and after many emails he never sent the replacement. I managed to get a paypal refund.
Me either. I got a response promptly when I first contacted Jacky and he asked me to send a video, which I did. That was several months ago and he hasn’t answered any of my emails since then. Very disappointing.
Did the 6 clicks as suggested. That brought back the special modes, but now I have no ramping. Just a super low moonlight mode and a very bright (maybe even Turbo) mode. Reread TK's Anduril Manual , but I'm still stumped. Anyone have a suggestion to get ramping back?

Explain what it’s doing. You say you have no ramping, but somehow there are 2 very different brightness levels?
How are you changing the brightness levels, by a double click?
Maybe you are in stepped ramping mode and somehow changed the number of steps to 2.
Try turning the light on and do 3 fast clicks. This cycles between ramping and stepped ramping.

Turn the light on, then click 3 times. If I understand correctly, this should get smooth ramping back.
(I’m guessing you’re in stepped ramping mode with the number of steps set to only 2)
If you’d like to configure stepped ramping mode for better results, this may work:
Turn the light on.
Click 4 times to start ramp config mode. (The light should blink once, then flicker for a few seconds, then blink twice, then flicker, then blink three times, then flicker. Each flicker is a chance to enter a value.)
At the first option, click 1 time to set the floor to the lowest level.
At the second option, click 1 time to set the ceiling to the highest level.
At the third option, click 7 times to tell it you want 7 total steps.
Thanks again Jason and TK. I was just logging in to answer Jason. The behavior is like what TK suggested with 2 step ramp. I click to turn on. I get either Moonlight or Bright depending on what mode I last exited. I press and hold to change to the other mode. A single click turns the light off. Three clicks doesn't change anything. I tried several times varying my timing.
Maybe 3 clicks doesn't work when there are only 2 steps. I will add steps as TK suggests. Maybe that will allow 3 clicks to work. I'll report back. Thanks again you too for taking the time to help me out.

If you click 3 times to change the ramp style, it won’t immediately change the brightness. It should just give a very short “blip” at the end where it turns off for a split second. Then if you hold the button to try ramping, it should adjust the brightness in a smooth pattern.
