uniquefire uf-v3

We’re like kids on Xmas eve!

Hey, its your fault Joe damm you, you’ve built the anticipation to fever pitch. I’ve been rocking like a crack addict on cold turkey since you bigged it up……

I’m just doing to others as they have done to me! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah thanks, give forward the anticipation…. Seriously though, I am quite excited, it has a plausible lumen rating, a reflector closer to 50mm than 40mm and seemingly is smaller than the pictures give the impression of. If it wasn’t for the blinkies, it’d be an ideal light I feel….

Rusty Joe - the size listed on DD is much smaller than elsewhere. DD lists it as 108 mm length while the other listings are 147 mm. Is yours 108 mm? That's really, really small - the size of my Sipik SK73 zoom. Running at 2.8a as listed, that will get pretty hot fast I would assume.

I don’t think Joe got it from dino direct, I certainly wouldn’t have, not even if it was half the price I paid, it’d probably turn out to be a different light entirely. :~

It’s a little larger than the UF 980L going from the listed measurements. Still a nice compact size. A comparison of the two would be cool.

Looks like this one is available from Tmart US Warehouse now. I think I’m going to give it a try for $17 shipped!!!

This V3 is an interesting light, though I recently got this: http://www.lightmalls.com/ultrafire-c8-cree-xm-l-u2-1300-lumen-5-modes-led-flashlight-1x18650, which I'm very happy with, and excellent reviews here. The C8 U2 runs 3-3.2a while the V3 was stated at 2.8a but it is smaller and lighter than the C8. Both are priced about the same. The C8 U2 was rated here on BLF at 871 lumens on a quality battery, which I tend to believe in seeing the output of mine - outstanding throw and brightness.

Interesting in hearing your impressions on the V3. Can you do a tail cap amps measurment? How hot it gets? Beam pattern, etc. The TMART deal sounds great!

I’ll be posting up my findings later, just wanted to give a couple of spoilers.

The beam is very smooth, with a tight, intense hot spot. The battery tube has the same threads both ends, so to reverse the clip, just screw the battery tube in the other way. The head can be removed from the light engine to use it as a mule.

It’s really small! It feels noticably smaller than my c8. I had to add an o ring to the tail cap boot to allow it to tailstand and had to strip and reassemble the tail cap assembly to get it fired up.

All the threads are clean, lubed and with good o rings, glass lense with no imperfections, smooth flawless reflector (as shown by the pretty much ringless beam). I can’t wait for it to go dark now.

It is also cell unfussy, anything seems to work it due to the long positive spring.

I like this little light. Tailcap readings later.

Hey gords1001, is the pill hollow under the star? Does the battery tube and tailcap feel really thin? My Dongrui Q5 version has the thin cheap feel and I believe the pill is hollow.

-Garry

Good question Gary, I’ll hopefully be able to investigate more later, just had a play this morning. It is very light weight, but to me at least, did not feel “cheap”. It has nice feeling threads throughout which all started without that panicky “have I cross threaded this?” Feeling.

Well I should clarify that mine doesn't feel too "cheap", just really thin and lightweight which leads to usually being classified as "cheap". I'd say my threads are nice and don't risk cross-threading either.

Being available to us in the US from T-Mart is a big plus!

I'm willing to bet the driver will be the now typical direct drive on High variety. Can you provide tailcap currents with various cells to try and verify this?

-Garry

I have a few cells, so yes, when I’ve put the kids to bed, I’ll have a play, I actually think its current regulated to be honest, but we’ll see.

Well, its definitely not direct drive………

Torchy 2800mah protected cell :- 1.55a, 1a, .5a.

Trustfire 2400mah cell :- 1.5a, 1a, .45a

Limpfire brc3000 cell :- 1.1a, .9a, .3a

All these measurments were taken with my megger dmm, and backed up using a 2.5mm sq cable and a clamp meter, there’s no question in my mind that they are accurate, which suggests to me the wrong driver has been fitted, probably the one for a q5 emitter. Heat tests or run time tests are for now immaterial.

I’ve emailed the vender asking if a refund of £4 is possible? That would cover the cost of a stock nanjg 7135 driver, I will be getting some e1320 drivers next month, so one will be ear marked for this light, its well worth the efforts. The beam is one of the smoothest I’ve seen, tight hot spot, no rings what so ever. Be nice if part of the cost is covered by the vender, but I won’t loose any sleep if its not.

If the tmart lights are properly driven this will be one hell of a buy, because its very impressive underdriven, at full amps I think it’ll be amazing, with an e1320 moonlight to daylight driver it’ll be perfect.

Ouch. Wonder where Rusty Joe got his... TMART says 12W, which I suppose is 2.8a (4.2 * 2.8 = 11.76).

I’m not worried, I expect driver swaps on eBay lights to be honest, even if its just blinky elimination. Disappointed, but not really suprised or upset. I had hoped this would turn out to be a good seller, I’ll find out when I get a response, hopefully they’ll make it right, if they don’t, I still won’t worry because the light is otherwise really nice, don’t let my example put you off, if I hadn’t checked, I’d be pleased as punch.
