A good example of what beam0 is saying , from some of the beamshots I have already , would be the Maxtoch 2X compared to the TC20.
The 2X is making about 1460 lumens compared to the TC20 at about 3800 lumens , but the 2X will put much more light downrange than the TC20 is capable of by far. I am not saying the TC20 donāt blow the 2X away at close range , but after 175 to 200 yards then the dedicated thrower (s) leave the TC20 in the dust as far as range using much less lumens due to the focus.
The TC20 will not even come close to putting enough light on target to see 800 yards or probably even 400 yards for that matter really , as it is a much more floody beam and āwall of lightā closer up.
They are just 2 totally different types of lights and light beams.
Here is an example of what I am describing with a shot from the factory Maxtoch 2X with dedomed XM-L2 U4 1A emitter at 807 yards from a barn and then that same shot enlarged and then the 2X and TC20 both at 100 yards so you can see the much more concentrated beam from the thrower compared to the TC20.
Well, I could not stand it :smiling_imp:
I cut the Thrunite battery. It pissed me off that with a bigger current it gets so bad and I came to the conclusion that it is probably a security device and not the battery itself. I dumped everything and the battery itself was left. Now itās flying like Lii-50A. At UT-02 I am 6A and TC-20 9.5A. Turbo holds over two minutes and then drops because the temperature reaches 60 degrees Celsius. You have to take into account that the ambient temperature is 30 degrees, very warm ufff. Thatās how the battery lay for me because I do not have any lamp with power consumption below 5A. Now it is flying in the TC-20.
sp5it, Ednessā¦ How much are your lights dimming in output? (estimate)
With the Thrunite cell mine is down about 100lm at 30 seconds compared to turn on, I didnāt record how soon the drop actually occurred after turn on, but itās not really enough to notice visually. Iām going to do some measurements again when I have time, and also check it with a Lii-50A.
100 lumen in 30 seconds is just the led heating up and is normal. The other guys are probably getting about 700 to 800 lumen drops (from 8A to 6A at battery).
Those numbers are really low for a 3800 lumen light. Since the TA tube is reading higher than normal right now I would expect to see it measure about 5800 lumen which could then be adjusted down to around a real 3800 or so.
If your tube is reading 3087 then thatās about 2000 real lumen. That sounds more like High than it does Turbo.
Forgot the numbersā¦ I am using .70 factor just using the stock fenix lightā¦ the point I am trying to show is lumen output between shockli and thrunite batteryā¦
My numbers are considerably different WITH the Thrunite cell after I cleaned the ends well on the cell itself. The almost immediate drop is now gone and the lumens hold fairly well instead of just a few seconds.
I am not saying my light tube setup is perfect , but it is the same as the ones Dale and TomE have and all 3 of our lumens readings were calibrated the same and tubes made by the same person.
We all get very close to the same lumens readings out of the meters , so I am guessing my meter is pretty accurate?
Anyway here are the charts I made with my TC20 sample.
