I too have felt the nibble. Watching for more info on filters. Would the 3mm thickness be a problem?
Any thoughts on whether the AliExpress soldering iron is better than this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/936B-Iron-Soldering-Station-SMD-Desolder-Welder-Welding-w-Stand-Sponge-ESD-110V-/361070621272?ssPageName=ADME:B:BOC:US:1123
Note: Ordering through HobbyKing is not an option for me. Shipping charges to Hawaii are prohibitive.
Nice highjack guys, how about you started your own UV related thread?
Pulsar13: cajampa:Thanks Yeah the Hakko tips is a really nice feature.
The crappy station i use now have absolutely horrible tips it is a miracle i can solder at all with them, i need to get a iron that can use good tips. Good tips + good flux and solder makes it a pleasure to solderDo you know if there is a on/off button? Or do one have to cycle through the temps to 0 to turn off? Or are you suppose to take the plug out? Because at only 8 seconds heat up time i think i would just turn it on right before i need it, instead of like now it has to run for hours because it take so long to get warm when i do need it. And that really wears on the tips also.
Same here, I have wasted enough money buying non-standard irons, once the tip is gone, soldering becomes a &*^# job. Then this hobby becomes just a chore and headache. Nowadays I’ve worn out my Hobbyking portable iron tip, non-standard, it destroys everything it touches.
I hope getting this 936d will be a turning point to enjoy the hobby again.
As for turning ON/OFF, I believe you need to switch the mains off. No problem with me as all sockets here have individual switches.

It looks to be the same as the Hobbyking station (but the ebay one is called 936B, don’t know what the difference are), and Richard recommended that one as a cheap but good one that takes Hakko tips.
I can’t buy the hobbyking station either because of crazy high shipping prices to Sweden from their Hongkong warehouse Otherwise i probably would have already.

When does this sale start?
Isn’t it already 11/11 in China?
EDIT: NM, found it. Starts midnite PST.
I just measured the lens from my Hugsby and it was a little over 12mm. So there went the idea of using the 10mm UV pass filters in it.
EDIT:
12mm x 2.5mm is a bit thick.

This seems to be an IR-pass filter, the contrary to an UV-pass filter.

It blocks 400nm - 750nm.
And i would think everything under 400nm also.
I was going to buy this TK61 for $87 ($102 - 5 - 10), but they just jacked up the price to $111.60.

This PAISEN GZ4 looks interesting, but still too much for me.

What are that pointy looking thing at the tail are you supposed to use that as a weapon?
^
No silly. It's used to help it stick to your forehead when you need a head lamp.

Interesting indeed. Kind of like a Supfire M6 with USB functions. I wonder how much space there is in the pill, might be able to swap in a better charger if the stock one is crap. If the host quality is decent it’s not a terrible price.
