It took me a while to find the BC-3100, and then even longer to find who sold v2, then I finally found Gearbest and this site, and found out v2.1 existed. Can’t wait to get mine.
As for tagging the unit for reflashing(if possible?) the main chip, sounds like a fun task. I wonder if someone can actually find out what chip it is under the hard black goop to be able to facilitate such a task. I would love to know what all the IC chips are.
As for changing out the main chip, I’ve never been able to remove the hard black goop on anything without a whole lot of destruction. I guess one day I should see if there is a way.
As for the internal switch, I was thinking if when a further hardware revision is done, the bottom could be retooled, to have a recessed switch or dips and one shunt to select the max cell voltage. I know the bottom panel just can’t be changed now, due to the battery slide being too close to the switch. If I needed to use that switch now, I’d just make a hole and use a tweezers to change it.
The default charge is 500ma and with NiMh batteries you’ll only need it’s low voltage, which will be auto-detected due to the cell being less than 2v. I don’t think you have anything to worry about unless you want to try four 4.2v cells at 1A each, just to stay on the safe side.
If voltage goes down, amps should go up, so that 2A@12V has more amps as voltage is stepped down. If this was not the case, other people would need a power supply over 4A, thank goodness for Ohm’s law.
Thanks HKJ for the quick reply.
Did some quick tests using this power bank as the power source 12V 3A power bank and my Opus v2 and see if it will work. I put 4 fully charged Sanyo UR18650ZYs to ensure I have enough juice to do the test. I was only successful in charging 1 AA envelop max of 1A. When I tried 2 AAs, the power bank started acting strangely though my Opus charger seems to work properly. It seems my power bank cannot provide consistent 12VDC at the right current needed by my Opus charger. Not wanting to damage my power bank and charger, I stopped the tests.
I really need some decent AA/AAA charger that can run on AC and 12VDC. Can you recommend one that can complement my Opus charger?
No, really. For AA/AAA I have the Opus BM100, a small, dead quiet unit which can charge/analyze/discharge/refresh cells. It has it’s own power adapter for 3v though, so no 12v input.
Will check on that Xtar HKJ. The i4 is on my radar too. Am also looking at the Soshine SC-F3. It may not run on 12VDC but runs on USB 5V. I have 6 power bank including 3 with replaceable batteries and lots of 18650 batteries to power those power banks.
We have sold the 100th unit . As promised, a $2 coupon would be sent for each unit bought, but to show our sincere gratitude, a $3 coupon is now posted in the buyer’s GB account to all those who bought in the first 100 units!! (Any one who bought in $45 but not get the $3 coupon, please kindly PM CSgearbest)
