I received my twelve today . Fit and finish is great , tint is a little cooler than before .
I have been EDCing one of these for a while now .
Thanks again for organizing this great deal on a great little light , =the= .
If anyone knows a source for a centering ring that would work as a replacement for the little black washer — that would be thicker at the inner diameter to fit up into the reflector — please post.
I just want these to look as good as the first round for gift-giving purposes.
I think it’s only a cosmetic difference, now that we know
(thank you SciFiFreak)
someone just cut a little bit too much off the reflector.
EDIT — I asked at FS : LED centering rings / positioning / insulating – made to your specs (CLOSED)
Isn’t this light direct drive? If that’s the case, then by definition it should be polarity protected, because the Light Emitting Diode won’t conduct in the wrong direction.
I had a similar thought while putting the tailcap back on after changing the battery- “I can short the battery with the spring? I better be careful, that’s n… Hang on. This light is DD, shorting the battery through the LED is what I’m effectively doing every time I turn the switch on… ooohhhh.”
got mine after about 2 weeks ….Very fast imho .
spent 10 or 15 minutes with a file and a couple different grits of sand paper …now they have a much softer /smoother edge on bezel and tail .
new ones have a tighter clip which was a complaint of the former model .
these light heat up WAY too hot on a 10440 and running one in them should only be done at your own discretion . .
nice little lights to gift and everyone seems to love them
nichia high cri just makes everything better
I don’t think it can be direct drive, because it works with low-voltage 1.2v NiMH cells. That’s too low a voltage for a Nichia 219 LED to output much light (if any). It has to at least have a boost circuit for AAA cells. Perhaps it’s direct-drive using 3.7v lithium-ion cells.
Got mine… both worked… happy camper! ![]()
I just ordered a regular SF 348 to compare. Don’t know how they make the seams disappear like they do. Like that they can be put on a cap and use hands free.
I ended up giving away all of the 6 lights I got in a few days… So I ordered 10 more :–5
They are a good light to give to someone who won’t use multiple modes.
I’ve sent a sample light from the new batch, so watch this space for eventual development: FS : LED centering rings / positioning / insulating – made to your specs (CLOSED)
Wonder when they will contact me to advise me they’re sending me the 5 that was not included in the last GB order of 10?
Supposed to be replacing them from this order.
I ordered my three lights on March 13, they shipped on March 14, and I already received them all in good working order. Now that was quick!
My 4 arrived unexpectedly yesterday. Ordered on Mar. 11 and they finally left the Beijing airport on Mar. 22. The tracking info was never updated after Mar. 22, so I had no idea when they would arrive.
My initial observations: The lights all look much, much better than I had expected, and the seam is invisible to my eyes. Really very nice quality, and I’m glad I got the engraving. All 4 switches feel good and function well; all tail-cap threads were a little gritty but easily cleaned; all 4 LEDs appear to be slightly off-center, having the black crescent on one side that Hank mentioned, but not noticeable in use; all LEDs are the same nice tint; one pocket-clip has a slightly wrinkled finish, but not a big deal at all.
All in all, I’m very happy with these, and glad that I participated in this GB. A really nice deal for quality lights.
Got my 3 yesterday. Gave away one away at work after quickly checking it works.
From the 2 I have left, one has more rosy tint and one has slightly green tint. But when using by themselves, both look pleasant. The threads were gritty so I need to clean them. The switch is a bit too tight for my preference, but as long as it works.
Overall happy with this. Thanks for organizing the group buy!
Mine has become a favorite. It’s the tint.
Ordering another today.
Mine did finally show up thank goodness. Now I have 2, wife has one, friend at work has one (so hell stop trying to steal mine) and ones in the gift boxes are for that, Fathers Day gifts!
I did notice the original version and this one have different output. both I got from batch 1 have about 10 more lumens than Im getting on this batch, all tested on new AAA. Any thoughts???
As mentioned in the OP, the emitter in the 2nd batch is one brightness bin lower (D200 vs. D220). In addition to this, individual emitters can be from upper/lower parts of that bin.
Just ordered 2… plus a couple EFEST 10440’s and XTAR XP1 Hummingbird chargers from MTN. One set is for Dad… mine should be perfect for EDC when I have to look nice and can’t have anything really big pockets.
I thought I liked warm tints, but this light showed me how wrong I was. The color rendition is every bit as good as advertised. Thanks for setting this up.
Must have missed that, no complaints was just surprised. But makes sense now lol. Thnx.
Do you think there will ever be a Copper BLF-348?
