So, Iâve been working on my project all the afternoon/night, and it is almost done. It is a fully functional âflashlightâ, that uses a pill.
Given what was said above, in particular gchart (about djozz) and G0OSE, could my âbuildâ be considered as a modified light then?
If so, I documented all the process and can put it one thread in the âModified Light Categoryâ!
If not, no problem at all, the fault was mine for misreading!

Hello, sorry for the delayed response. Iâve slept on it and sobered up âŚ.err⌠I mean thought about it some more
Iâve had a couple of questions along similar lines â can i just use this one part / do this one thing without jumping categories? Itâll make it sooo much easier for the rest of the build â The rules seem pretty clear cut to me so Iâll continue to take the hard line to make it fair to all the persons who have previous asked (and mightâve altered their build to suit).
@MascaratumB I can still add your build to the mod category if you wish but it looks like youâve removed the build specs in your thread. Alternatively if you come up with another idea before the end of the comp you are still welcome join.
What i will do is open a discussion thread regarding the rules for next year. I was going to do it after this years comp was finished but I guess we should open discussion while itâs a hot topic. I will not change this yearâs rules so the contest is consistent and fair.
Well, as my thread isnât locked, I will probably use it to make the thread under the Modified Light Category! I saved the information I had there, and now I can add it again with the due changes

Quick question- was wondering if I can participate in the contest with a lit up sign, as in would that qualify for the handmade category? There are huge protests going on in my country and in the effort of âshedding the lightâ on our corrupt government I wanted to create a sign with lighting.
Iâd be really curious to hear from sb if thereâs a good way for this to work. Blurring the text or something? Not photographing the message portion of the sign? I donât know. Iâm pretty curious about the tech itselfâŚ
Hmm... I don't think we've had a question like this before. Everyone just accepted the purpose of the device is to illuminate the environment not to illuminate the device. Having said that, the rules do not specifically exclude such devices. A bit of a grey area but i think it'd be interesting to see such a build. With regard to the politically motivated message on the device i have sought a comment from sb to help clarify BLF's position. Until I hear back from admin i will play it safe and say the entry does not qualify at this time. If anything changes i will let you know asap FearOfTheDark
Okay i had a chat with admin. His advice to me was to exercise caution.
So with that in mind, I think it best to not allow this project. Point 3 of the BLF rules - please avoid divisive subjects such as religion and politics. Sorry FearOfTheDark. If you have another idea thatâs non- political youâre still welcome to join
