ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

I have the Kershaw Emerson CQC-4KXL today. Got a good price for it.

My little collection:

[It isn’t easy getting good photos, maybe I’ll do better next time.]

You like the ganzo G720

All great choices! I’m surprised you don’t have a Sanrenmu 7010.
Much like the EL01, it is a must-have among the Chinese knives and it’s cheap;)
The 7010 and the Harnds knight are may favorite small budget knives,

Horizon D Clone

The wood on the new Ganzo is gorgeous!

Ganzo G727-W1 and Enlan L05 on the picture.

Received my first “test order” of budget knives today, since the flashlight addiction this place gave me apparently wasn’t enough… Decided to go with a Ganzo 726 and a Sanrenmu 7090 from FastTech for the trial run, and I am very pleased with both.

The Ganzo is a hefty sucker, and solid as a tank. Everything on it is well done - grippy grips, the blade is perfectly centered, the lock works smoothly every time, and all the fasteners are good and tight. My one minor issue is that the blade is a bit slow to deploy for me because of the size of the knife vs the size of my hands, but I’ll get the hang of it. The blade came sharp, but not shaving sharp, so it did need a little work on a stone before it was good to carry.

The Sanrenmu is the exact opposite type of knife - relatively small, and very light - but similarly well made. Blade is well centered, action is quick, etc. Not sure if it is the light weight of the blade, the design of the flipper, or some combination of both along with my technique, but I can’t get the blade to flip completely into the lock position with my main hand. Left handed, it is no problem, but with my right it takes a small flick of the wrist along with the flip to get it to snap to a locked position. The blade on this one was arm hair removing sharp right out of the box.

Considering I got both knives for less than the price of my usual EDC blade - a Kershaw OSO Sweet - I’m definitely happy with the purchase. I will now begin hoarding budget knives to go with my growing hoard of budget lights. Good thing my wife also likes knives, and flashlights, or I’d be doomed…

With manufacturers like Sanrenmu, Ganzo, Enaln and Harnds, you definitely get more than what you pay for (at least most of the time).
Glad you like them.

BTW, does your wife has friends with similar taste :stuck_out_tongue:
With mine, every time I get a new toy, I hear “another one”.
The good thing is that I keep on replying “I still have less knives than you do shoes” and that shuts her up LOL!

+1

Got these in today from Fasttech

G719 (top)
G727 (bottom)

Amazing quality for the price.

I used to have 3 “shooting knives”, with a spring in the handle that would propel the blade a good 30 feet effectively. Has anyone seen these for sale anywhere ?

From the small knifes we had now this is the working force

From left to right is the size of the cutting blades.
Left the 3 Ganzo’s and right 3 fixed blades. (there is 1 more fixed in transit and well then we are good on the knife department)
The second from the right I use, it s very aggressive looking, but the rope aroung the metal cannot damage like the wood on the other two fixed blades, though removing 2 screws on the “browning” and one is left with 1 piece of metal without sharp edges that is nice to hold (and used that way)

whetstone big
and the 10000/3000 Grit Sharpening Stone bought for $3.85

The fixed in the sheaths

And the fixed all cutting edges alligned

Also known as a “Ballistic” knife. Those are rare and I believe outlawed, I believe their possession is similar to owning a switchblade. (see wikipedia link below)

They became more popular after one was used in The Punisher movie. (probably just special effects though) It was also mentioned in one of the punisher comic books.

This Russian one looks pretty serious:

“The Russian ballistic shooting knife was used by the Russian Spetznaz special forces. The ballistic shooting knife is a questionable weapon for many reasons and is highly illegal to even posses in the USA and most other countries”

And here’s a couple of cool youtube vids:
A pretty awesome home made one…

wow, those look very dangerous

Sounds like you are off to a good start! Be sure to also check out some of the Enlan knifes. Of those 3 manufacturers (Ganzo, Sanrenmu, Enlan) you will have plenty to grow your collection. That reminds me, I don’t know if I have more budget flashlights or budget knives now…

I wouldn’t exclude Harnds although they have a very limited number of models.
The quality of the model I have is on par with Sanrenmu.
For those willing to take a chance with Gearbest, they have 2 models on sale right now:

The CK013 (Knight)
http://www.gearbest.com/survival-emergency-gear/pp_198450.html
At below $7, this is a must have.
As I mentioned before, it’s one of my favorite small folders together with the Sanrenmu 7010

The CK015 (Viper)
http://www.gearbest.com/survival-emergency-gear/pp_198445.html
I don’t own this one as I don’t like the styling but it’s got great reviews on both Gearbest and Fasttech.

Personally, I will pick up a Nyx when it will go on sale just to check out their spring assist.

Thanks, bdpf79!

I ordered one of the CK6013.

Gifted my biggest Ganzo today.
Hmm miss it, and it on sale on gearbest for ~$12
Think I buy another or does anybody know a real big folder in that price range?

The Harnds Viper at $11.41 is a very strong but quite gentlemanly folder.

http://www.gearbest.com/survival-emergency-gear/pp_198445.html

It looks very nice, but too small
9,5cm blade length minimum and the more width the better to replace the big Ganzo.
(I ordered the Gearbest deal anyway in orange, to swap with the gifted black, more practical since he carries it when fishing and orange is easier to find when dropped then black and I have my trusted one back ;))
