Alpg88 2nd. Annual BLF Scratch Made Light Contest entry, handmade category

lol, too well, my heat managment sys does not kick in. i mean it worked fine during testing, but in current set up, it has no chance to kick in, i only feed pair of paralel xml’s with 2A (6amc chips), at that current it would take the light run for an hour in a 100+F heat to kick in. i underestimated coolling capacity of the angle, and overestimated heat produced by 2 leds at 2A current. it turned out i might have gotten away without it, or i could have used lower temp sensor, it would kick in sooner, but there would be no need.
i figured xml2 are binned at 85C, so that temp is safe, (iirc max is 120C) i used 75C tstat right next to the star, so i figured when t stat gets to 75C the led, which is 1\2in away from t stat and is mounted on copper sinkpad would be at about 85-90C. time to shut them off and switch power to aux leds. (back facing low light). shutting them off sooner would not, imo, provide any benefit.

as far as the entire heat managment system, i have build other lights using same idea (tstat\relay) and it works great in other lights, but those have more leds that are driven harder.

in this build, i wanted to have practical compromise of weight, brightness and runtime.

Excellent build, I like it.

Once again, very nice light, great build.

This light is just pure awesomeness!

Ill post some of your pictures once more just for people to see.
