Any way to go back to the old navigation?

The previous UI was dated, but excellent. So easy to navigate. I’m looking at this new one and I’m lost… It’s like a totally different site. Are all of my subscribed topics now gone??
I am also at a loss as to how to browse the topic categories as we once had them. It’s like wearing blinders in a foot race… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

On the left panel under “Categories” there is a link which says “All categories.”

No, you can’t go back to the old forum.

It’s dead, Jim. While everything is different, it might not be bad after some time. Discourse – while it has heavy use of JavaScript – has also some benefits. And it works much better on mobile devices.

Subscribed topics list is gone. That’s bad. Any way to get them back?

Someone needs to create a skin for the old superior format.

This white background is blinding.

Just enable dark mode here: https://budgetlightforum.com/my/preferences/interface

Just found that, thanks.

Anyway… I never thought I gonna say that, but now CPF is more friendly to read that this site after change. Pity.

Your link leads to a list of your posts

1 Thank

Yeah, each user will have a different link, so my link won’t work for anyone but myself, for example. :upside_down_face:

2 Thanks

Got it!

I like the new UI. It’s very sleek if you get used to it. Let’s see how dynamic some of the old users are

Does anyone remember BudgetAndroidForum?
That forum was made by sb and it ran on Discourse (like BLF now.)
I used to post on that forum on a regular basis before it got taken down.
That’s the only reason I’m used to Discourse now–because I’ve used it before.
I don’t know if everyone will get used to the new forum software, but I hope most people will eventually. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, fixed!

This is horrible, but willing to continue using it.

Is it possible to “mark as read” And yea, id like to see more low contrast skins.

There are multiple ways to see “unread” posts. Whenever you read a thread for more than five minutes (in the standard configuration that you can change in your settings), you will “track” a thread. You can also watch a thread manually.

  • Tracked threads will show up in the “unread” search (right on the start page). This page has a “dismiss” button to mark them “as read”.
  • Tracked threads will also show a small circle with the number of new posts wherever that thread is shown.
  • The color and thickness of the thread title will also change depending on if you have visited or if it was updated recently.
  • A horizontal line will divide threads and posts since “last visit” from older threads/posts.
  • If you are watching a thread, you will receive dedicated notifications for every new post.

@SammysHP
Thanks for that explanation!
I didn’t know most of that. :face_with_monocle:

Its possible to dismiss new post but how to dismiss top or latest posts?
