Don't know anything about the light, but it looks cool. The 3W is a hint that it may have one of those plastic pills, but aren't those usually 1 mode lights?
Looks like these 2 were suffering from bad colds when the below picture was taken.
At first, I tried to ignore this one, because I’d never heard of “Annsman”, but then I googled, and it seems to be a more realer company than some of the normal vendors, so I bought a couple just to see what they’re like.
So I now have the one from Amazon, plus 2 of the Annsman ones coming in.
I think that the head of the Annsman light is slightly smaller than the other one, so the Annsman may not work with a quad optic, but we shall see (it may be awhile, because I don’t know what shape I’ll be in after tomorrow :(!!).
IMHO— you might also consider the Cofly 2x AA that is on sale for
$6.99 in the Gearbest sale thread.
Its well reviewed, and said to be a great value for the price.
I have 2 on the way.
Thanks for the suggestion. The Cofly looks good, but kind of similar to the C3, where the head and the body are about the same diameter. I’m looking for a 2xAA where the body tube takes AA/14500 (obviously) and the head is able to has like a 20mm (for a triple) or 24mm (for a quad) optic.

I'll look at my lights tonight and report back if any meet that criteria. I don't have many 2AA's though.
Not sure what type of surgery you are having today. What ever it is, you're in my thoughts. Heal fast and well and get back to modding. There are several mods you have done that are on my wish list to do someday.
I finally was able to get around to taking the N4’s head apart, and am disappointed:
1) The only way to take the lens and reflector out is to basically hammer the reflector from the back end so that they pop out of the front of the head. The lens itself is just press-fitted (squeezed) into the head from the front. In other words, there is no ledge on the end of the bezel/head that holds the lens (and reflector in).
2) The head ID is too small for even a 20mm board, much less a 24mm star and board.
Thankfully, I didn’t destroy the lens or reflector and was able to put the light together.
I should be getting the Ansmann lights today. Hopefully those’ll be better candidates, although from a video I found it looks like it doesn’t have a real pill, but just a plastic ring.
Do you how the Romisen head disassembles, i.e., how to you get the reflector out? From the back or from the front?
It looks like the head diameter is 27mm? I could work with that, but I don’t particularly like lights where you have to pop the lens and reflector out from the front.
Hmm, a bit of unique assembly up front on this one. The ‘head’ and pill are screwed together; there is a 3rd ‘ring’ piece that joins them, and just now it is so tight I can’t get it apart; not much to get a grip on this part. (in the Tmart pic, this ring is just above the clip)
So the reflector screws into the ‘head’, this same thread on the head also threads to the ‘ring’ piece. The ‘pill’ then threads into the back of this ring. The pill has both the driver and LED mounted. Cant get at it right now, but if I recall, the LED requires a 14mm board, and I think the driver is about 16mm. ( I have a BB Nexgen driver in them, and it is a bit too small so I added a spacer…)
Probably not the best for heat if you are planning on driving it to the max, and I doubt the tail switch will take more than a few amps… (I have these set up as super efficient single mode muggle lights.)
(…I will have to get back when I can get it open, now that I think; it may take a standard 17mm driver if you remove a ring already installed…)
I checked my 2AA's and found a few that could take a 24mm optic (had slightly more than a .95" ID). They were as follows:
Pailide "GL-037-77B" I think I got it from BIC for about $3. Has a side switch. I searched for a picture because it's too late for me to get my camera going, and uploading as such. See first pic below. The head is two parts. So it looks easy to mod. It appears to be behind the screwdriver in the pic next to the silver colored bezel.
Defiant 2AA that came in a two pack. I don't think the light is available any more. Here's a thread on them. Only had a .95" ID.
SAIK "SA-15". Not sure where to got it and couldn't find anything informative in a quick BLF search. Light feels and looks to be nice quality. Not sure how to get the head apart, but it has to be 2 part in order to the lens, reflector and pill in there.
