BLF Kronos X6/X5 GB - Group Buy now closed.

Thanks, I will have another go next weekend.

Would a tiny bit of WD40 help? I’ve been using some fairly fine needle-nose pliers, I think something else is going to fail before the ring is free :/. Going to invest in some Circlip pliers, might even make an adjustable retaining ring wrench by drilling holes and fitting pins into the sides of an adjustable wrench…

The ring may be below the end of the threads and failing to engage — try holding it ‘upside down’ and trying to pull the ring a bit while turning it, if you can.

i ordered 3c lights early in the GB, then much later agreed to accept astrolux 3c lights, and they sent me astrolux 1a anyway. lotta problems with seller and maker in the last 2 GBs.

I tried the AL set coupon but now the price isn’t 50$ but 58,47$

Not trying to call you out personally, ZozzV6. But, I think this needs to be said. This group buy has been over for a very long time. Before that, it was in process for a very long time, then in production for a while, then in purchase/ship mode for quite a while, then in public code mode to finish off the remaining stock. What I’m getting at is that anyone expecting to get a deal at this point has more than missed the boat. They’ve missed the whole planet. At this point, the pricing is set by normal everyday business practices.

Does anyone know if they have BLF X6 (Al) in stock or will they ship an Astrolux version?

Sorry for misunderstanding, and I missed the dates too! Maybe the planet  I not registered here very long ago but I got here often by my google flashlight searches.
I dont want to complain just saw that I can’t find this price written anywhere. I really appreciate and thanks for those who made it possible these lights! This price is also really really the best for what you can get it. I have a BLF D80 as my first BLF light and I want more. Just can’t decide between the X6 Al or the SS version. I like more the look of the SS but I don’t want to have any scratch on it by use. But I can’t afford both of them :frowning:
And sorry for my english. It’s not the best.
Cheers! And have a nice day for everyone in here!

No need to apologize for your English. We have a large community surrounding the globe and you are welcome.

I haven’t had the best of luck with the X6 and X5 family of lights… :stuck_out_tongue:

First I received an Astrolux SC (copper X5 clone) that acted strangely due to a bridged connection on the driver. Removing the bridge fixed the problem.

Next I got an Astrolux S3 (aluminum X5 clone) that stepped down in all modes. I swapped in a 17mm driver from Mountain Electronics.

Today my aluminum X6 finally arrived… DOA. The threads weren’t cut far enough and the driver retaining ring falls past them. I added some solder blobs to thicken the driver and the light powered on but stepped down in all modes. Swapped in a Mountain Electronics 17mm driver running Bistro UI, after adding some solder blobs to it.

I’m still waiting on an Astrolux S2 (aluminum X6 clone) for a friend. Maybe it will work out of the box?

I added an XM-L2 emitter inside, and it worked great! Got a higher amp reading too. It focuses perfectly. The hotspot is between the size of the BLF X6 and the stock Kronos X6.

How do you disable thermal protection?

The correct one for the X5/X6 firmware is Revision 206:

~toykeeper/flashlight-firmware/blf-x6v2: Contents of ToyKeeper/bistro/bistro.txt @Revision 206 (used by Manker for BLF X6/X5)

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~toykeeper/flashlight-firmware/blf-x6v2/view/head:/ToyKeeper/bistro/bistro.txt

Edit:

I just noticed that my link points to Rev 208, but Rev 206 was the rev used by Manker for the BLF X5/X6

Best Regards,

George

I’m sure the answer is in this thread, but search as I might, it is alluding me. The question is, “Is there a way to disable or toggle the tail switch light?”

Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea, but I’m afraid constant on will drain the battery. The only solution I’ve found is to remove the battery, very undesirable.

Beautiful light. Thank you!

Thank you. Will try it later

Alu version can be disabled using a quarter turn on tailcap. Or changing the rubber switch to black

This makes sense with an anodized aluminum host, however I have the copper version. Beautiful piece, but no lockout by twisting the tail.

The only way to disable the tail switch light for the Cu X5 & SS X6 (apart from removing the battery) is to remove/disconnect the LED from the circuit.

Or you can change the resistors to a higher value so as to decrease the current.

George

Thank you George!

The BLF X6/X5 Driver ATTiny25V-Based and FET+7135 only is available @Banggood
