I showed up Nov 7 2010 about 11 months after Budgetlightforum opened its doors . I’m member #300 of the 400 or so included in that first year .
Members who joined about the same time are Match , Jacktheclipper, Fishinfool and a bunch of other great members
Early BLF was just way too much fun . I told Jack that every day after school I’d run home and turn on the computer to see what my friends were up to . Clearly that wasn’t true since I haven’t been in school for multiple decades , but that’s how it felt when there were only 30-40 active members on the site . You knew everyone.
I just wanted to say thanks again to all my friends on the friendliest forum on the internet .
If I remember correctly, I’m member #251.
It took me perhaps a year or two for me to become a regular on the forum.
I miss a lot of BLF members that no longer post.
With the old forum software (Drupal), it was easy to see what number member you are.
With the new forum software (Discourse), I don’t think it’s possible for end users.
Mr. Admin probably knows more on the subject.
I’ll summon Mr. Admin. @sb56637 can you find out which number each BLF member is, or is there a way for end users to do that?
(For example, I think I’m the 251th user to join BLF.
I apologize if I’ve asked this before–I’m not sure if I have.)
Awesome. I came around late 2018. Became a member 2019 when I needed help with some projects. It went down the rabbit hole from there.
A lot of the OG members don’t post anymore or have disappeared or passed on (catch you on the flip side OL Justin). I really miss their projects since that’s how I got started/inspired like Texas_Ace, TomE, DsBAR, Lexel, the Miller, comychair, MikeC, djozz, etc.
not to sound like that guy, but has the number/quality of projects in the hobby decreased over the years, or am i looking at the past with rose glasses as a newer member of BLF
I think the site has a limitation as to how many pixels / terabytes you can post on any one thread. Let’s just say there’s a crack in the foundation and the house leans like late 60’s Batman TV.
I think in the early days for me the technology increased so quickly that people just replaced things instead of trying to modify them. There were some sketchy products and sellers out there too making some unsupportable claims making it more likely that people would just feel like they’d been had and buy something else instead of trying to get whatever bad purchase they made to work.
Apparently I joined in 2013 but didn’t remember ever being here before when I wandered back about 6 months ago.
Way too many great members to start mentioning names . That includes you too , Flashpilot, Foy , Don , ChibiM , Cone ,Vectrex, Budgeteer and a 1000 others .
No, you aren’t. It’s true because the new lights coming out since 2023 are getting so good they don’t need to be modded with different LEDs and drivers, etc. I give credit to the OG BLF folks and others for that because manufacturers take ideas from us. For modding though, brands like Convoy is pretty much keeping the modders interested and that industry afloat (outside China).
This forum’s a great place to chill
With modders displaying their skill
As we all come and go
With life’s ebb and flow
It’s a place of outstanding good will
