Cheapest 50K+ lumen monster?

I’d need to compare the HK08. I’ll be doing that in my upcoming review. Youtube channel is “Piercing The Darkness”. Possibly will also include the Imalent SR16.

Thank you, I am very excited to watch the video. You, flashaholic and luxwad make the best reviews! Thank you for your effort, I really appreaciate it. I know and see that you put in a lot of work and time without getting anything back. Just for the community. Thank you.

The A15 I tested did only 51K uncooled and 61K max with forced air cooling. Depending on how cheap it is at launch (if it’s around $200) it’s not bad, and the output is regulated (somewhat). The Haikelites are nice too, but I think I’d still recommend Imalent for lights over 50k because they can sustain higher brightness with built in fans. Spend the extra for those. Even the Lumintop Mach sustained higher brightness than the A15. I had to aggressively cool the A15 to get high sustsained brightness and then the runtimes were short.

SR16 vs HK08 vs HK10

Wow, that’s amazing! I love these comparisons, they seem to be the only way to know the exact differences in beam-petterns.

From my limited testing, thermal regulation steps this down to only 3340 lumens. That’s less than the HK08. Definitely pays to get an Imalent for sustained output. Charging indicator shows full charge too early, making it hard to know when it’s actually finished.

Thank you, that’s good to know.

Looks interesting but based on the 1Lumen review it seems like it gets almost dangerously hot including the batteries area. If there is anything a flashlight user does not need it is cooking off multiple lithium ion batteries due to poor temperature regulation. I believe high temps also shorten battery life even if they do not fail catastrophically. The things I noted about the Acebeam X75 review from 1Lumen are the reported thermal isolation of the front of the light from the battery area and the fan and finned copper heat sink included in the design. Smart design IMO. Before I retired I worked in reliability testing in Silicon Valley.

I agree, the X75 is amazing. I only use turbo in bursts anyways. The longest turbo-run my HK08 has ever seen is likely 10 - 15 seconds.

The HK10 charging is terrible, the switch indicator shows full charge at 4.00v and then continues charging. Reviewing it makes it super annoying since I never know when it’s full.

Really? That’s also the only way you’ll charge it, since it has 8 batteries. External charging isn’t really an option. Is the charging fast though? Does it also do 100 watt charging as the HK08?

I don’t know, I don’t have a suitable USB Tester, just a very basic one for Type A.

A solution to the power input monitoring is a small power meter in line with the USB charging line like the inexpensive solution linked to below. When current drops to zero charging should be complete. Multiple versions on Amazon.

Thank you.

I found a solution in the end, it was to use my Imalent SR32 100w brick that shuts off when no load is detected. Now the switch indicator turns off when finished.

I like good designs and just ordered the Acebeam X75. I contacted Illumn in San Jose, CA concerning availability of the 5000K neutral white version and they indicated it was not in stock and with a unknown restocking date but offered me $100 off any other version they had in stock so I ended up ordering the 6500K standard version with a claimed 80,000 Lumens out. The monster should be on the way today.

If you want a much more compact lumens monster for it’s size take a look at the Wurkkos TS32. A classic soda can size light with handle that weighs 23.5 ounces with batteries. In the same physical size category as the Nitecore TM28 but at 1/4 the price and double the lumens. At 13,000 claimed lumens not a true monster category light but Amazon recently had a 25% off coupon offer which dropped it to under $100 with batteries. Not in the Acebeam X50 class for output but a heck of a lot less expensive and mine works well and the two button UI is a lot simpler than the ones on many lights.

Congratulations on the best designed lumen monster ever! Enjoy it. I agree on the wurkkos, but for pure output, size and price, I would take the Q8 plus.

The battery compartment of the A15 actually stays within safety limits for high drain Li-ion batteries (around 60 C or less. I observed between 55 and 58 during uncooled tests). It’s very well protected with two thermistor probes sampling temps at the driver and mcpcb shelf. The Turbo steps down almost immediately after reactivating it from the stepdown anyway so it never has a chance to heat up to danger-zone temps. Like I said though, if yiu can’t swing the extra $100 (black friday sales coming) for a Imalent MS12 Mini, SR16, or MR90, or spend a little more for a X75 like you did (awesome choice for a high output light for under 100k Lumens). All of those are way better than the A15.

One thing I like in a high output light is a top handle and over the years i have picked up several starting with a real oldie heavyweight, the Trustfire TR-S700. Featured here as there was a attempted but cancelled group buy years ago. Laugh but it used 3 26650 batteries and had a whole 3800 lumens claimed in a close to 3.5 pound super oversized soda can light. Best if the handle also includes the operating controls too. One reason I like the design of the X75 and a couple of my oldies. Here is the link to the TR-S700 for laughs. Technology does improve.

How far we’ve come.
