Code now public! BLF A6 FET+7135 Light. Short 18350 tubes and Unanodized Lights Available

You can always buy a Convoy (maybe he can even sell them without drivers if you ask him) and drop in a BLF A6 driver. Banggood have started selling them again

Oh, that must be why all my bookmarks shifted by a page or two. Deleted comments caused re-numbering so things appear on different page numbers now. Itā€™d be nice if BLF had a way to link directly to a specific comment.

I think Convoy should concentrate on things with more general appeal. TKā€™s interface takes practice to use, and FET drivers are sensitive to the battery and LED voltages. I would rather see a Convoy with 12 x 7135 and a Nichia 219C. That has good output that is constant over a range of battery charge, and it will work with small changes in the LED, the battery or other components.

Having built one of those myself recently, I agree ā€” it would be a nice setup available pre-made.

Well, you guys Mod and I do not, so some of that will go over my headā€¦

I was just thinking along the lines of a driver that didnā€™t have the 3 mode-5 mode switching option. - Yeah I can set it to 3 mode just fine, but let me do just one little thing wrong while using it, and Iā€™m back in Disco Mode:-(

Perhaps something more along the lines of a Qlite?

Also, being ā€˜oldā€™, Iā€™m a big fan of L-M-H.

Thanks,
-Chuck

Just gotta learn not to flinch (and turn it off) just after it blinks in low mode. I stumbled through learning that.
It surprised me how when I turned the light on low ā€” and saw it flicker ā€” my impluse was immediately to turn it off.
Just the wrong move.

Itā€™d be nice to have more driver options from Convoy. Iā€™ve even offered to write new nanjg firmware for Simon if he wants it. It would have to be simpler than BLF A6 though, due to having no OTC and only one power channel.

It could still be configurable, at least.

PLEASE help Simon!

I will buy much!

WOW! It would be great!

The number in the upper right-hand corner of each post is supposed to be the direct link to that particular post, but for whatever reason that feature doesnā€™t work on this forum software.

Two reasons:

  • The link depends on the individual userā€™s posts-per-page setting.
  • The post numbers can change if a comment gets deleted.

Itā€™s just how the forum software works. IIRC, itā€™s drupal-based, and can probably be fixed, but currently has some somewhat odd quirks. For the most part though, the software here works very nicely. I especially like how it allows a large subset of HTML and CSS in each post, since that enables detailed posts with rich content. Many forums donā€™t facilitate that kind of thing.

Seems I recall any innovation from Convoy happens after enough people all more or less at the same time let Simon know theyā€™d buy the result.
Do we even know Simon is set up to install new kinds of firmware (not just settings) in the lights he sells?
(let alone in those other companies sell for him)? Is there any way to automate or smooth the workflow involved?
Who knows Simon well enough to pitch that idea at an appropriate time?
It sounds like it would be a gift from heaven for Simon ā€” if he can cope with having it.

basically any xtar or nitecore charger and something like 25r or 30q batteries.

Would the memory decay trick work? Or not enough memory with the other features? Iā€™ve been really enjoying a couple Convoy lights with a slightly modified STAR_noinit firmware.

Memory decay should work fine on nanjg drivers. Iā€™m using the trick on several of those. It just has some limitationsā€¦ mostly, that it can only distinguish between ā€œlongā€ and ā€œshortā€ (no ā€œmediumā€), so there wonā€™t be any reversing.

Itā€™s also possible in rare cases that the memory will decay to a confusing value, if used to hold data across a short-press. The actual decayed state is an un-predictable pattern of 0s and 1s, with a higher prevalence of 1s. Itā€™s not usually a problem though.

Hello, Iā€™m new to all this. Just received a Meteor M43 and a BLF A6 last weekā€¦
Been reading for a few days and unfortunately couldnā€™t understand how to proceed with the BLF A6 spring bypass. So I have a few questions, please bare with me:
1- How / where or who do I turn to for the spring bypass for my BLF A6? Or do I have to buy another modded one?
2- Will the BLF on off switch handle the extra load? Because I suspect that it sometimes doesnā€™t work faithfully.
3- Will the modded BLF work with button top batteries?
4- Which battery will be brightest on Turbo, LG HG2 or Samsung 30Q ?
Thank you and sorry for the many questions

1. Do a forum search for DB Custom and bypass. That info is in this thread but probably easier to find if you set the viewable posts as high as possible.

2. The switch should be fine but also an easy replacement

3. The A6 can pretty much handle all batteries

4. Any of your listed batteries are good but the 30Q leads the pack at the moment

I hope this helps :)
