Maybe I am being impulsive… or maybe its just pure spite that I really… REALLY don’t want to buy a camera with my money like Brad keeps trying to get me to do LOL.
How long would it take me to save up $2500 for a maxabeam? Well that depends. I have a savings account and the money is there… I could probably even win the MRS over in a few months to let me spend it too… but I am cheap… and not the type to squander savings on something as frivolous as a flashlight……. If I saved up my “fun” money it would probably take at least a year… and that is including selling some other toys… hmm… my guess is in a year I am going to want a lot of other lights… and Pulsar is going to have some more GBs that I am going to want…
but… but…
and they occasionally appear on cpf marketplace/ebay used for anywhere between 800-1200? hmmm
I am to the point where I think I own almost every LED light that I will want. Or at least to the point where there IS one that I want I can just sell trade other ones for it…
I love short arc - theyre expensive… theyre the hardcore drugs of the flashlight world… jmpaul320 wants one… oh no… I just referred to myself in the FOYperson… I wonder what HE would think of this rant?
Well now that I have taken the last minute away from your life that you will never get back… feel free to kibitz/troll me (yes this means you kreisler! lol)
Ok, I'll chuck out my thought process whenever I buy a new light.
Think about what you're going to use it for.
Think about how long you're going to use it for.
Look at your other lights, you probably don't regularly use all of them.
You might think 'This is short-arc, and throws like a mother, it's definitely worth it.', but can you actually justify spending $800-$1200 for something like this?
Just like when you bought your DeftX you thought 'This light will be different.' But it isn't. If it's not something that is actually practical and useful you're only going to be using it when you play with it. How much time do you get to play with it? Maybe a few seconds or minutes a day?
Sure it's cool to have, but look at the practicality. Cost vs. benefits. It's big, comes with one battery, it has 800 lumens and costs a grand. Can you live with that just to have something which appears in movies and throws a far beam?
What else could you do with the money? A new computer perhaps? That'd definitely see more use.
Are you in an appropriate financial position to buy such an expensive light?
Some may not apply to you, but answer these to yourself honestly and be rational about your decision. If you can justify the spend, then I don't see why not. If you can't, then simply don't buy one.
Then you don't need to buy a camera and take pictures. He can take the pictures for you.. Problem solved everybody wins and the whole BLF community gets a sick sick mod-thread!
