Considering a Maxabeam. Argue as to why/why not with me in this thread! :)

Maybe I am being impulsive… or maybe its just pure spite that I really… REALLY don’t want to buy a camera with my money like Brad keeps trying to get me to do LOL.

How long would it take me to save up $2500 for a maxabeam? Well that depends. I have a savings account and the money is there… I could probably even win the MRS over in a few months to let me spend it too… but I am cheap… and not the type to squander savings on something as frivolous as a flashlight……. If I saved up my “fun” money it would probably take at least a year… and that is including selling some other toys… hmm… my guess is in a year I am going to want a lot of other lights… and Pulsar is going to have some more GBs that I am going to want…

but… but…

and they occasionally appear on cpf marketplace/ebay used for anywhere between 800-1200? hmmm

I am to the point where I think I own almost every LED light that I will want. Or at least to the point where there IS one that I want I can just sell trade other ones for it…

I love short arc - theyre expensive… theyre the hardcore drugs of the flashlight world… jmpaul320 wants one… oh no… I just referred to myself in the FOYperson… I wonder what HE would think of this rant?

Well now that I have taken the last minute away from your life that you will never get back… feel free to kibitz/troll me (yes this means you kreisler! lol)

They gonna send out the dudes with the butterfly nets!

i knew this would happen when i switched from whiskey to water for a few days! dang it!!

I admire your spirit tho!!! LOL

That beam is sick!!! Buy one!!

The beam is sick.. If you have a decent camera that is. If you don't have a somewhat decent camera.. Its basically worthless.. 0:)

yes…. prob wont happen … at least not for a while

$2500 can buy a lot

even 800-1200 for a used one can buy a LOT of other fun things

ask DALE he knows what im talking about LOL.

Ok, I'll chuck out my thought process whenever I buy a new light.

Think about what you're going to use it for.

Think about how long you're going to use it for.

Look at your other lights, you probably don't regularly use all of them.

You might think 'This is short-arc, and throws like a mother, it's definitely worth it.', but can you actually justify spending $800-$1200 for something like this?

Just like when you bought your DeftX you thought 'This light will be different.' But it isn't. If it's not something that is actually practical and useful you're only going to be using it when you play with it. How much time do you get to play with it? Maybe a few seconds or minutes a day?

Sure it's cool to have, but look at the practicality. Cost vs. benefits. It's big, comes with one battery, it has 800 lumens and costs a grand. Can you live with that just to have something which appears in movies and throws a far beam?

What else could you do with the money? A new computer perhaps? That'd definitely see more use.

Are you in an appropriate financial position to buy such an expensive light?

Some may not apply to you, but answer these to yourself honestly and be rational about your decision. If you can justify the spend, then I don't see why not. If you can't, then simply don't buy one.

LOL!

You tell him buddy.

Having a light like that would do you no good whatsoever here without pictures to show us.

Again, pictures or it never happened even if you say it did.

I wonder what Old-Lumens could do with 800-1000$?

Then you don't need to buy a camera and take pictures. He can take the pictures for you.. Problem solved everybody wins and the whole BLF community gets a sick sick mod-thread!

That thing looks more like a laser than a flashlight!

I am going to use this light to be awesome. and to derail freight trains.

longer than 4 months. (average life of my shelf queens lol)

good point - i dont… buy a few of them from me to help finance my maxa beam :stuck_out_tongue:

I spent $600 on a deft x ! but yes, would be hard to look at something that expensive in the form of a flashlight!

Funny - this is actually the first alternative that came to mind.

Yes, I have cash, but I am cheap… which is why I have cash.

Yes my deft x sits on the shelf for most of its life and comes out for a few minutes here and there…. i get your point

double post

LOL!

What good would the Hubble telescope do us if we didn’t have pictures?

Just something to ponder.

Manufacturers picture. Mouse over to see future beamshot from jmpaul320

I’m still choking on that one. LOL!
