Simon, Can you confirm the L8 head size? 81mm or 90mm?

Natewar: ArtieT59: TermsakC:I want to know how the new Convoy L8 differs from the Convoy L7, apart from using the (very difficult to find) 26800 battery? From the photo on the Convoy flashlight Store on Ali Express, the L8 looks longer than it should be, since it is using only one 26800 cell. Has anyone found any good Group Buy offer for the L8?
the L8 is specs as having a 90mm head size! This is very exciting for me, as that puts it in the same throw range as the Astrolux/Mateminco mf02sV2 and almost the WT90, but with the ease of using and carrying a single cell
The convoy store on AliExpress stats the head diameter is 81mm is that correct or is it 90mm?

81MM
Correllux: texas shooter:Too much electronics being crammed into a small area. A light spring on either side works and protects the cell from bashing the base of the board. With that brass stud a much heavier spring is needed. How critical is it, is up to the user. Myself it’s a bit critical.
Agreed! I was toying with Simon’s spacer boards in the MC3 and even with two of them in there it would still bounce and cut out…added a third and dented the top of a QB cell…dangit. I think a thicker wire on the same spring design might work but I’ve got some P60 springs on the way and will give that a shot. Toying with the idea of trimming the pillar and adding a small spring to it but that seems like a great way to get dust-shorts or destroy the driver. I do love the light, though. The design does keep me from buying similar lights in large cell formats, though.
Spring can be soldered on the spacer board
I’ll give that a try.
ArtieT59: Simon Mao:M21E with GT FC40 will be available
AWESOME!
After doing comparison between M21E and M21F it seems that M21E is a bit larger so offers better throw too. Also that silver color is so nice that I will so get that one for my GT-FC40 led.
Smooth or OP reflector is the next big decision. Maybe OP when that is ready. More smoother and multiuse beam without that much loss in throw.
C8+ reflector fits in M21E. You only need to find 7070 gasket for 9mm reflector hole.

definitely! My thoughts exactly about large size m21d for gt fc40. The c8 size is a sweet spot for that led I feel.
and I have owned two of the silver m21d, they are even nicer in person! Don't ask me why I sold them both. Lol. I definitely want to order another one. With the GTFC 40. When I order my L8!
I will probably go with a smooth reflector though. and thanks for the other person C8 reflector fitting, could order backup OP reflector at same time.

what centering ring is used with the GTFC 40 in the M 21B? that would surely be a similar set up, no?

It’s 10mm in M21B. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to promote other sellers in Convoy thread, but I bought fitting gaskets from Kaidomain to my XHP70.2 M21E when I swapped to C8+ OP reflector.
lg.tech:S21D is no longer available, was there something wrong with it and had to pull it from the store or did it just sold out that fast?
The holes on the MCPCB were too small in diameter for the TIR lenses to fit in and I had to send them back to the manufacturer for rework.
Are those that have order placed and sent out being affected?
Chatika vas Paus:I used a thick (1.2mm) high current spring which I purchased from Led4Power.
leave me your address via PM ,i will send one new driver to you

Thank you.
I think the S21D would be interesting with the new Nichia 519 emitters.
How do people feel about xhp50.3 hi 90 cri in Convoy lights? The 6v version should be usable in the same lights as the b35am.

Finally signed up (instead of just lurking)(hi btw) to ask this specific question. But you beat me to it LTC. Maybe for the orders already placed a manual fix was done? Or do we need to do something when it arrives?

This, and also some narrower optics.

Nice! If you put it in an l21a I’ll buy one!
Oh nice. Especially that 1800- 2000K triggers my buy now response (with or without flashlight). Have a small E21 2000K light that I use every day, but the moment you step out the door it’s pretty useless. Not enough power and/or gets very toasty real quick. Would love to play around with a GT FC40 2000K in a bigger host that can handle heat while providing enough output.
Enjoy your new year Simon!
Woohoo, 5000K is back
