Got a .45 ACP pistol? A Kimber, perhaps? Caspian in any caliber? I’m pretty sure those all have full point knurling on grip panels and front straps. Anyone ever hear of any complaints about those? When I worked with my buddy in his gunsmith shop, we used checkering files on backstraps and grip panels. Full point, no holds barred. Everyone was happy. I never once heard of anyone having to knit their .45 a sweater for being too rough on their hands or scratching something. Guns, knives and flashlights, tools of the trade for the Men in Blue. No complaints, only praise for not being dropped or slipping in the hand when the heat was on.
Good enough for the Men in Blue, good enough for me. Just sayin…
Hey cool if that’s what you want to do with it, swing away! The average person would use it to rapidly acquire the end of the light to get to the button with out dropping it for ONE handed use, maybe he has a Big Mac in the other? I know that’s what I use my Jax X6 for… but I usually have a Glock M23 .40cal in the other? But I’m sure you’ll be happy swinging yours Or buy 2 and make NUNCHUCKS out of them?
Lately my dad asked what brand that beautiful light, that I had laying on my desk, was. Of course he was speaking of this new L2 :D. I then realized it doesn’t have any markings on the outside, not even a brand name. Why choose Simon to do that? I know I would not mind it, as long as it is clean and simple like the convoy C8.
I was asked my opinion on this light by the OP, about the change to make it a 2 cell hunters light, and when I give my opinion I’m told to grow up and move on!
My kids don’t knit, so they back me 100% in my endeavor for a serious outdoorsmans’ light. And THAT’s all I’ve got to say about THAT!
Sign me up when Simon get’s that long tube done JDub, I’d like to go ahead with the MT-G2 version of the L2.
@ PD here is the pic’s you wanted with the spacer’s in both the head and tail cap…… As you can see “just” touching the o-rings, nuff to keep dust out, probably not water? But almost 4mm of length added for your 26700?
I really think I would only need one of them or be able to trim them down. My KK’s are only too long by ~2mm. Thanks for doing that, it sounds like you just sold me on a new L2!
It’s only a little taller than an HD2010 standing beside it, virtually the same size overall with the finned area being on a curve instead of stepped like the HD2010. So yes, it’s a nice handful of light with quite a bit of mass, very well executed.
For some reason I was picturing something closer to my Courui than my X3. But now just thinking about the thickness of a 26650 tube vs a 3*18650 tube that just doesn’t make sense.
Maybe I missed it, have you done any kcd readings?
Nice! Perfectly illustrates your point for any who might have wondered. Like I said Simon and I both wanted to get rid of the tac-ring thinking it useless on this light until you brought up how you used it all the time on your X6. That’s exactly the kind of real-use feedback needed to make functionally superior products. That of course is Simon’s goal and I am enjoying my part. Thank you!
I checked out that thread. I haven’t heard of that happening before. I’ve never personally had a quality issue with any of my Convoy lights but I replied over there asking for more info. If these are lights bought directly from Simon I will certainly contact him. If they’re coming from Gearbest or any less reputable supplier I won’t waste Simon’s time. Thanks for letting me know though. I have three S2+ flashlights and all have been dropped several times. One belongs to my 10 year old so you can bet that one has taken a beating and it works like the day he got it. I also have an M2, an S3, a couple C8s, and L4 and of course the beautiful L2. I don’t recall dropping the L2 yet but all the rest have taken a tumble or three with no ill effect.
In the OP he says it was bought from GearBest. Weird though - I thought Simon is Convoy... So if it's a Convoy light, why wouldn't Simon, the manufacturer, have some responsibility? If GB is doing, or having done, their own assembly of Convoy lights - wow, that would be an important thing to know.
