Got my L6 w/ 3A 5000K LED and love it! Creamy neutral white which renders trees and grass very nicely.
Beamshot comparison below. I tried my best to adjust Adobe Camera Raw settings to match what I saw. Every image is converted from raw with the exact same settings but with the saturation turned down a bit not to exaggarate the color temp differences.
I like the high CRI K60, I was actually just telling J-dubs that the L6 would be amazing with a High CRI bulb, even more so then a lot of other lights IMO. It has the lumens to spare first off plus it is so widely versatile a High CRI LED would really pay off.
Yeah, sorry everyone I guess I forgot to post that. Fasttech’s listing was wrong. There are no N4 3A from Simon. They also posted a beamshot picture with the words “provided by manufacturer” across it which was…let’s say a “mistake” to be nice. The beam shots were not provided by Simon but taken from stephenk’s review of the L6. I contacted all three parties and the listing has been corrected and the photo removed.
I ordered a spare driver from Simon. You never know when you might need to replace it. Hopefully never. For $4.78, it’s a no-brainer. What I like about the L6, besides it’s excellent performance to cost ratio, is it’s easily serviceable (it’s not glued together like Fenix and others). Parts are readily available, unlike most expensive name brands out there.
That…would be another vendor typo I’m afraid. :person_facepalming:
There is no N4 emitter from Simon in 5000K.
The 5000K emitter offered by Convoy is an N2. The 5700K on the other hand is an N4. :face_with_monocle:
The XHP-70 I bought for my SR-90 was from Cutter, reported to have been tested by them at 96CRI. If I remember correctly it’s in the 5700K range. The lumens output or binning is lower than some others but it is still producing right at 5000 lumens (4964.55) now that I have the pair of 6000mAh Trustfire 32650’s in that light. This is a very pleasing tint and power level, and I’ve only ever seen it advertised at Cutter.
The one I got, also from Cutter, that is now in my L6 was the highest binned output level available at that time. I’ve thought about modding it to more than the 6.3A it’s doing now, and really I probably will, as I don’t tend to use any of my lights for long periods so if it wants to get hot, then I can always make a heat sink for it or something.
It seems in Simon’s AliExpress Store the L6 has been offered at one time or another with the emitters listed below. Although at present time the only one’s available are those in BOLD
I had previously stacked a single R140 resistor on the pair of R082 already present for 6.36A from my L6 at around 4600 lumens. Just now I added an R056 to the mix and it pulls 7.42A at the emitter for a lumens output of 4971.75.
I thought about slicing the dome and going with a mirror finish reflector but chose not to in the end. I’ve not liked the tint shift in the past and these emitters have given a lot of issues with people slicing them, whether from being contaminated and not being cleaned before being powered up or whatever reason, I chose not to risk it here.
I know my cells aren’t fresh, but they should be fairly full and rested so this is probably a pretty good read on it. From all indications, 7.42A is pretty much in the sweet spot on this so unless I get a wild hair and decide to shave, this is where it’ll stay.
