As DB said, the only thing you can do is to get rid of the moisture.
You could try to place the light with the bezel and glass removed in a pan with rice. But be careful with the reflector.
Rice is known to draw moisture out of things.
I got mine from FT for $51.30. I paid an extra $1 for a corrugated shipping box. Bought it on 11/28, INTL’ shipping is slow, but I’ve been spoiled by Amazon prime.
Letting it air-dry in a warm dry environment would be best, then seal it up. If you have any silica-gel packets (as in the “do not eat” kind), see if wedging in a small one would fit.
Taking it out into cold weather isn’t a problem, but when bringing it back in, and it’s still cold, condensation will collect on it from the warm moist air inside like on a cold glass of beer in summer.
Common problem with camera lenses, especially “puffer” lenses. My 70-200mm f/2.8 isn’t one (fairly weatherproof, in fact), so all I have to do is put it into its bag before coming in, and it’s safe. My 28-300mm is a puffer (expands/retracts as you zoom in/out), so I make sure it’s in my camera bag snug, and all zipped up, so there’s a minimum amount of air around it when it slowly warms up from the cold.
Worse comes to worse, open up the works as thoroughly as possible, and stick it overnight into a sealed box filled with rice. It acts as an adsorbant and sucks out the moisture.
After I got my black L6 a few weeks ago, I right away ordered the clear one as the black looked so good that I thought I could not go wrong getting the clear one as well and I was right.
Just ate lunch with my folks and my Aunt, it’s my Aunt’s 55th anniversary of being 29 yrs old today!
The ice water and iced tea glasses sat on the table with zero condensation on them! No water on the table, even at the end of the meal. That is Extremely rare for us! Local news station says we’re at 43%, but those glasses indicate otherwise.
Point being, you need this kind of low humidity when assembling the flashlight, or take it apart, warm it for a while in a warm oven, assemble it while still in the oven. The moisture should be gone.
When I put in that code on banggood it comes up $47.56, which it has been for quite some time now. I only know because I’ve bought 2 of them at that price over the last couple of months (black and clear). :sunglasses:
Just a heads up to all.
Bought the 1pc Keeppower ICR26650 5200mAh 3.7v Protected Rechargeable Li-ion Battery from Jdub link. Luckily I only bought 2pcs. The Button does not protrude above the shrink wrap and the base is recessed below the shrink. I do not see these being able to work in the L6. Batteries arrived today and I should be receiving my L6 tomorrow or early next week.
Here are pics I just took of what I received. Do not look like the pic in the BG sales page.
Wow, that's something new - flat top protected cells. I'd check the length (use paper/tape to isolate the caliper) to see if there's a protection board on the bottom - probably not I'd suspect. Could be they just put the wrong wrappers on unprotected cells. The wrapper confusion has happened before with KeepPower.
vwpieces, I have those Keeppowers from Banggood and they do work in my L6. It has the same old version wrapper too. Love to know if they are really protected though now.
I shouldn't have, but I just purchased my 3rd L6. That would be one black and now two clear ones. Couldn't resist getting one for a Christmas gift for my cousin. I thought it would much better than buying a bunch of junk that no one really appreciates anyway. A flashlight is useful for everyone, especially something like the L6.
The L6 is a great general purpose flashlight to replace all those aging plastic lights and / or maglights with batteries that are nearly dead.
Like my flashlight guys I am always amazinged when someone else pulls out a “flashlight” from the 90’s or older and thinks it is still an acceptable source of light.
I'd buy it right away LOL. From what I read before, there may be a beige L6 coming out, which I wouldn't get, but if Simon came out with a real camouflage painted one, I'm in.
(Seriously, I agree… It would take a lot to convince me I need a brighter light. Now, I’m sure someone will eventually come out with a smaller light that’s just as bright, or offer some other irresistible upgrade, and I’ll probably pony up… But the L6 is indeed a fantastic package!)
