This first one is with the K3 on Low, at .07A 5DMkII 1/8000 sec f/6.3 ISO50

This is on Hi at 4.40A, through a welders #11 plate used for eclipse pictures 1/4 sec f/4 ISO100

Both shot with the 100mm Macro f/2.8L IS with the closer shot about 4” from the bezel.

It seems to be 2/3 the brightness of my modded 9T6, which I think is right at 5000 lumens.

Well I just tested the current draw with 2 fully charged 16340 efest batteries.

Using my harbor freight cheapy with the stock leads I get 5.25 Amps.

Considering the added resistance of the DMM with leads, I’d say the draw is ~6 amps.

Wow, I expected them to deliver no more than 3 amps at 7+ Volts. That is good news :-) , thanks for measurimg.

Well the output does rapidly fall. With a 7135 based driver I’ll likely keep it at 4.5A on high.

I’m looking at a Mouser search page for 4.3V Zener diodes, & there’s quite a few different one’s to choose from….

Can someone ‘hook a brother up’ with a suitable one to use with the Nanjg driver?

Thanks - I already have a C8 + extension tube + AR lens + bored out reflector + MTG2 sitting around. Putting all of it together with a working driver with some modes will be sweet action :slight_smile:

Well, the driver build works with 16 chips! Running Samsung INR18650 20R cells nets me 5.80A at the tail in the K3, with a ton of work!

I got the copper at onlinemetals.com, a 7/8” bar I got 2” …one inch for this mod and plans for the left-overs.

woah… not sure if I’m doing something wrong over @ Mouser; The Website has a .AU prefix, but they want $39 shipping?? It was as if their mailing process was set up to ship overseas. I went through to the last stage of the checkout process, after setting up an account & shipping address, etc., but could not seem to shake the high mailing charge.

…anyhow, I was able to locate the Zener’s on fleabay - 20 for $1.56 shipped……

Well I got my parts in and the ones I picked were too large. I guess I was worried too much about wattage……

I managed to make them work though……pain in the ass……

I used a 12x 7135 Qlite driver. Moonlite works :slight_smile:

High seems to be pulling the correct amperage, through my crappy DMM I was seeing 3.9 Amps with long thin leads…….

Compared to my other lights using a ceiling bounce:

High is 190, slowly dropping.
Medium is 55.
Low is 3.

Comparison lights-
TR-3T6 w/ XML2 T4 5B1 pulling 4.5Amps from 2 18650’s = 180.
L2T XML2 U2 1C on Noctigon 12x 7135 driver NCR18650PD - 105
Typical XML T6 drop in no mods = ~55

Was it the typical Manafont driver, or this one?

The typical 9 amp driver would not be able to boost output from 2 cells anyway.
