Yes, you need this one.
Si has added 519A 1800k! This is going to be my new option instead of the 2700 or 3000k. Anyone able to shed some light on which reflector/tir options would be best suited for this option on 18650/350 or 14500 lights?
Watch out as they are R70, not R9080 as other 519A.
I did notice that on the description. The difference in CRI probably doesn’t matter that much as I primarily use the 2700-3000K lights on my desktop.
But I was wondering about the most efficient way to maximise the light rather than doing hacky stuff with diffusers etc.
Have you tried de-doming the 2700k? I use one in an S2+ as a similar “candlelight replacement” type set-up and I’m pretty happy with it. Ofc it’s orangy but that’s the look we are going for.
Personally I would call it more strawberry like. Very very rosy.
BTW @Simon_Mao how does the 519A 1800K compare to the 219F 1800K you offer?
The M21b with 20A driver and the new LMP LHP73B emitter option offered on the official site, will they have a fatter tail spring than the regular M21b, or is it up to the customer to bypass it?
@Simon_Mao
46950 tube for Pioneman K75, but also with 3x21 Convoy series available in Aliexpress:
I haven’t de-domed a 2700K yet, but 519a 4000,4500 & 3000K with mixed results. And one of them made the tint even worse that I had to put it behind a TIR. The 3000K had a negligible difference, at least to my liking. I have found that B35AM with a similar CCT was much nicer than de-doming a 519a.
I might be in the minority to think that de-doming is over hyped and subjective, as people claim wild tint shifts of 1000K or more, especially on Reddit and elsewhere. I have resigned myself to carry on using the growing collection of hacks for diffusers (lids, pots, containers etc.) along with some legitimate solutions, for that burnt orangey-lemony sunset/candlight experience until I find that perfect solution…
How about FFL351A 1800K?
I would definitely like to try that emitter, but I am fairly new to the hobby. I don’t know where to source it reasonably and the compatibility etc.
FFL directly is the only source I think: FFL351A 3V 10W 3535 Emitter – Firefly outdoor
It looks reasonably priced. I will have to get a hotplate as I haven’t mustered enough courage to start reflowing leds yet. But thanks for sowing the seed ;–)
Reflowing LEDs with one of those cheap 858d reflow stations is way easier than on a hotplate because you can control the heat by the machine and the distance to the PCB.
I heat MCPCBs from underneath, held by a third hand. Works like a treat.
Just make sure to use some flux!
I have had my eye on the G3061 PD65W more as a beginner level rather than any preference. I have watched a few vids on YT which kind of gives me some confidence. Also most probably be using the NC flux which I already have, along with most soldering tools.
What is the interior design of the S7? Is it a thrower like the S6?
From what I understand, S2, S6, & S8 all use a deep reflector for maximum throw.
S2+ uses a shallower reflector for flood, and S3 is an S2+ but with a direct thermal path shelf for better cooling. S15 is just a slightly different S2+
S4 & S5 are out of production
Yes, it uses the same deep reflector as the S2(non +), S6, S8:
I would never put a FET driver in a SS light!
I have a S7 SS Stonewash and put a LHP531 with 5A driver in it.
It is such a heavy light, it should be called a flashheavy…
I just want to say a big “THANK YOU” to @Simon_Mao for bringing back the S7!!!
It appears to be a very similar design to when it first came out, but with some subtle changes and improvements, such as:
- There are now 6 rows with each section of knurling vs 5 previously,
- The body has been flipped from front to back and has an extra ridge at the end so it is now flush with the head,
- The lanyard holes are smaller,
- And there’s just 1 O-ring for the head and tail vs 2.

It’s an awesome looking flashlight and I’m so happy to finally have one in my collection. ![]()
