But, don’t forget, this light has the charger built in! That is probably what is taking up most of that extra length. This light is an incredibly good deal, too. The comparable DQG light is the Hobi (both use a TIR). With a battery and charger included, this light is about half the price!
Even if it has limited lumens and no LVP, the built-in usb charging is necessary and extremely convenient if you use this as a keychain light. You don’t easily have access to a suitable charger for 10180s.
With a simple LED swap and a decent 10180 can we expect at least 400 lumens?
I doubt you’ll get 400 lumens with just a LED swap. The driver must be regulated fairly well to keep it down to 130 lumens! I tested a 10180 with a string of parallel Nichia 119B’s and got a draw of 1.5 amps. A single emitter is going to have a higher Vf than a string in parallel at the same current. But, with either XP-G2 or XP-L in a high enough bin level, you should be able to far exceed 400 lumens. But, it will require also a driver change, unless the driver in this light can be modded to give you 1.5A output without something melting.
Although you didn’t add my 3 versions of the titanium-one to the list, it’s good we got the price down. Even if it’s a bit strange that they lowered it even before we reached the 50-mark…
And since this groupbuy is open for everyone, I bet they won’t sell that many at the higher original asking price…
Hopefully the light will not be a big disappointment, though… But. At least they look nice!
This looks nice in several ways, and having the charger built in is helpful too. The steel or plain titanium ones are probably great on a keychain, where the DQG Spy seems too short to use one-handed. But for necklace purposes I think I’ll go with the smaller DQG Fairy.
Yes, I know about “The Other Forum”, as I hang around there too, from time to time… Still, I only counted 44 names on the combined list, but since the price is lower, it’s all good…
Can/will Op confirm if the only other site this GB was crosslisted was CPF? Or were there also other sites it was listed on? (such as EDC forums) I’m also somewhat curious to see if we achieved the 50pcs ti discount w/o actually hitting 50 pcs accounted for. Thanks!
