You are lucky(or knowledgeable) in getting what you want. I don’t have luck… You got good old S4 from Cutter for example while I got crappy new one.

If you want i can share some of those Mouser XPG2 m8( have 14 pcs atm, will order more), but you can buy them yourself- when i saw them the reet was full, now it has 980 pcs
its highly unlikely if they send you something different if you order that “wanna be” LE1 bin
I aint saying they are bad- vise versa: C8 mad eon a fly went with 162k cds with no AR glass and no tail spring bypass: and it wasnt that 100% focused you know, i tested it with not fully charger old 25r battery

i will order more of them cause they are the best atm, its just they are not LE1 but more or less E2 or something, even with the dome on you can clearly see the difference
The tint aitn that bad( for ppls taste) actualy, its looking EXACLY as Olight M3x default emitter`s tint
S4 2B are to be kept for special occasions only

My 2 cents regarding best throwing LED for single cell lights:
XP-L V6 1A dedomed in Convoy L2 (single cell) with fresh Liitokala 5200 and FET+1: 280,000 Cd.
New production XP-G2 S4 2B dedomed in same host with same cell and driver: 290,000 Cd.
Not much of a difference.
But - the XP-L pulls 6 Amperes and the XP-G2 only 3.7 Amperes …
Seems like new production S4 2B is better choice then V6 1A cause it smokes less current and therefore longer battery life for fet drivers. With buck drivers it could be opposite.
Did anyone managed to find or restock old production type of XP-G2 emitters?
on the contrary, I was pretty fond of the XP-G2 S3 3D stash of intl-outdoor, because of the (dedomed) good throw and still good tint, and recently I ordered a few extra and I received them now labeled ‘S4’ on the package (normally we are happy with a bin-upgrade :person_facepalming: ) and on inspection they are new type!

There must be more of them around. Probably in China market and it seems that we have only few China forum members here that could check that out.
I doubt that on the China market they have the highest bins S2-S4, most probably are not with known bin at all (tint or output). Hank was pretty good in getting specific high bins, some even exclusive.
They don’t necessary have to be S4…
S3 is also fine or even S2 is fine… Even R5 is better than new production XP-G2.
I am very lucky to have few good old XP-G2 S3 2B from Taobao thanks to our forum member wkhchin81 but I am running out of them…
He also tried to contact China market dealers and says that plenty of sellers are not familiar with such issue and the few sellers that are aware of problem say that their stock is first in first out…
I’m gonna buy some XP-G3s and compare them to my old XP-G2s, see how they perform at 6A.
Very well probably, the point is: how do they perform when they are dedomed?
I can’t remember if it was you or someone else who tried dedoming it and it didn’t perform anywhere near as good as an XP-G2?
I will do a test with dome on, then a test with shaved dome, and finally if both methods perform worse then I will try dedoming.
I will be comparing to a dedomed XP-G2 and dedomed XL-L2 and XP-L HI.
I think with dome on or shaved dome the XP-G3 should be able to have higher intensity than dedomed XP-G2 simply due to higher lumens at the same current.
I don’t know about the higher intensity, the footprint of the old XP-G2 S4 2B is smaller than that of the XP-G3 so the intensity shouldn’t improve…theoretically.
Guys I did my redneck tests with my diy Djozz style FET drivers and imho XP-G3 sucks! I would toss them in trash any time and anywhere… :smiling_imp:
Maybe you’ll be better luck with buck drivers. I support professional testing although Djozz, MEM and FMC already did some preliminary tests of G3.
Now that the old XP-G2 is impossible to find, should we start focusing on Osram leds? A while back FMC dedomed one and was able to get 410kcd out of a Courui D01 (as opposed to 440kcd with old style XP-G2 S4 2B.)
That’s only a 7% difference in performance. Much better than the 39% difference between new and old XP-G2.

Pretty sure it’s the exact same size as these larger “new” xp-g2s.
I’m guessing the answer is they don’t know what they are selling, but fasttech has 2 listings for bare XP-G2 S2 0D, with different sku’s and also 2 different listings for bare XP-G2 S2 1A.
