Woah, awesome! Does it have the innards of the Tube with an LED swap? Love the glow-in-the-dark tape idea!
I like it a lot. I need one!
How long will it take for you to make 300 for the group buy?
+1
that is very cool.
YAFMFCRX (Yet Another Fantastic Mod From CRX) will be my new introduction post for all your creations
No pics of the internal ?
You either have good eyesight or small assistants.
Would you believe I commented in the what did you mod today thread before I saw this. How tinny. Good stuff CRX. Can we get a peek inside?
Thanks for the comments guys :+1:
Yeah it has the internals of the tube, rearranged a bit so it still has two modes & ramping, with an XP-G2 S4 2B emitter. It looks like it’s de-domed but that’s because it’s encased in UV glue.
About a year…
Both
Guess i should have taken some pics of that but i wasn’t sure if i was going to show this one.
It’s fully potted so not much chance now either, sorry.
Forgot to take current measurements again too.
Great mod again!
I have done mods in which the leds are cast in polyester resin, but upon hardening it shrinks a bit and detaches from the dome of the led leaving an ugly bubble. Does this stuff (Norland?) not do that?
Thanks.
I didn’t use norland, can’t get it for a reasonable price here so i use cheap stuff, it shrinks too but i found the trick is to do it in layers if you’re filling something like that.
Just a thin layer over the LED, harden then apply more. Don’t touch the surface in between applications.
Not as good as 61 but acceptable.
Would this work ?
thanks for the explanation! With UV-hardening it is easy to do many layers of course, the polyester I used would take many hours per layer. Do you have the type and brand of the resin?, I’m interested and I may be able to get it over here.
That’s the stuff i used, it’s ok but needs to be polished up after setting.
I give it a clean with lighter fluid then polish with a soft cloth.
It’s not suitable for very thick layers though and no acetone.
It can be softened and removed with a jet flame lighter.
Very nice CRX! Looks are on point!
Do you have a public album which aggregate all your mods by chance ?
Thats a nice comprehensive list CRX. I should of started something like that five years ago. I notice you have one column missing, the one with the costs in it.
Yeah i don’t like to think about that one or the man-hours one or the one with all the lights that have come & gone
I only have that table because i’m always forgetting what’s what, getting old i guess…
I have the same type of sheet
Really useful to keep track of your emitters
Damn you, now my mind is wondering……Nice.
What battery are you running in there ?
