I have been experimenting on a diffuser for my Sofirn IF25A since I love its candle mode. For now, I bought all the available colors of collapsible rubber cups I can find and made an asterisk slice on the bottom. (an intersecting cross and x)
It looks like I can only upload 1 photo since I’m a newbie. So here’s the sample photo below. Since the cup is collapsible, you can make it long, medium, or short sized.
Wow! This worked better than I expected. This is a cottonball. I made it to look like a candle flame as best as I could. I’m using the Sofirn IF22A alternately with the IF25A as an ambient sleeping light. IF22A on moonlight, and IF25A in candle mode.
A slice of bicycle inner tube around the bezel, a small script bottle with the cap hollowed out and screwed into the bottle in reverse topped with a spray paint can lid. Everything fits tight, and provides a nice, even warm glow. Been using this on my IF25A nightly for more than a few years. I set it to sunset or candle mode with a 30 minute timer. I’m usually zonked well before the timer expires. Love it.
Apologies for the delayed response — I hit the reply limit for new users and had to wait 10 hours before I could respond.
I shared your concern about the cotton possibly burning, as well as it being blown away if I used a fan, so I opted to use the air-conditioning instead.
When I ran the IF25A on the lowest candle mode setting for 4 hours, the body stayed cool to the touch, and the glass only had a slight warmth.
I ran a test this afternoon for 4 hours and I was pleasantly surprised that the flashlight produced imperceptible thermal heat. I had to close my eyes to feel for any heat that could possibly burn the cotton. I imagine it’s there, but my dog’s nose is probably hotter.
Yeah it should be fine on low, no doubt about that. But then again you are only one accidental (double?) click to turbo away from starting a fire, probably in seconds.
I tested a few of those and managed to fit them inside a Sofirn diffuser designed for the IF25A. It was pretty fun, but they were a bit too small and tended to come loose easily. So, I found some cream lids and placed the diffuser on top of them.
Pretty bare bones, so I’m looking for other ideas.
I hope you’re doing well. Could you let me know the exact product and brand of the bicycle inner tube? I’m not sure if it’s available in the Philippines, as my online searches mostly show black, red, and green inner tubes. The only colorless ones I found were anti-puncture tube liners.
Ordered? Wow. Do they not dispense prescription medications in these type containers in the Philippines?
Sorry you have to go to the trouble. I have hundreds of them destined for the trash bin. If there was a viable method to ship to you without causing issues with customs or otherwise, I would gladly send you all you want. Heck, I would send you the entire kit for nothing.
Hope it works out for all your troubles. Keep us posted.
I did check, but all we have are opaque bottles, nothing like the orange ones. The one I ordered for ₱73 (around $1.28) is described as a “Doctor House small medicine bottle” or “American TV series small medicine bottle.”
No worries. It’s all in the name of experimenting.
Thank you. I sure will. Now I wait 3 to 5 business days.
