Do you think 2*AA flashlights with multiple light sources are useful?

Hi BLFers, recently I received a new sample of which is a multi light source combined Pen light& flashlight , with a spotlight LED in the middle , a circle of floodlight and red light . It powered by 2* AA, 14500 or 14100 (with USB C port) batteries. Do you think this combination is practical?

The diameter is about 18.5mm

I’m having reservations about AA sized pen lights. My first carry light was a Streamlight Stylus Pro and I thought it was great and slim. I’ve picked up a WK05 but thought it was a bit thick. This one seems pretty chunky too but flood, spot, and red light seems interesting.

Given the dimensions of a typical 2AA light, it makes more sense to me to call the WK05 and this light a “markerlight.”

yes, AAA*2 is more like a pen

If the 141000 is come-with, that’s a winner.

2×AA as an emergency fuel-source, though.

I think it’s still a valid format. Not everyone is as obsessed with flashlights like the typical member here is, and the 2AA light works well with them. People like my nephew who torture test most of their possessions come to mind.

No. Even civilians can use USB-C rechargeable 18650 lights like the FC11, I’ve given quite a few to friends and family, and they are far more compact than a 2xAA.

Besides the 2*AA, I have also considered combining such light sources on a 16340 light, which is compatible with CR123A

2 Thanks

Maybe it’s better to go with a 2AA model with the batteries side by side? Then, the mini LEDs can also be arranged better.

@Wurkkos / @Wurkkos_Terry : when will you release your Clip light (alternative to Oclip)? I saw a teaser picture and want to throw my money to Wurkkos for two of these new Oclip like signal lights!

1 Thank

If there was an available 18650 tube for it I’d buy one, especially if the red was 660nm and the flood LEDs were high CRI. Personally 18350 doesn’t appeal to me when I can have three times the capacity for a little extra length.

I’d only be interested in a dual AA / 14500 light if the batteries were side by side. There seems to be a gap in the market for a light in that form factor.

Thank you for your attention. We expect to release it in June

mmmmmm, so a usb c charge 14100 not as better as 2 AA

means 141000 inluced in package?—Yes
and compatible with 2AA

1 Thank

For me personally, no. A 141000-based light is too long to carry comfortably in a trouser pocket.

Personally, I don’t like them a lot.

That said, I’m considering getting one to have in a house without other flashlights for emergencies.
Emergencies being the light went off and might be off (natural disaster) for a while and would be good to be able to use AA.
So maybe as an emergency light. But will not see a lot of use probably. I don’t really like that format, but may be convenient to have in the house.

I like 2xAA format because when I was young that was very popular for pocket flashlights. Only alternative for pocket flashlight was 3R12 format which was not very compact.
In that old times there wasn’t exsisted li-ion batteries and alkalline was rare.
Today 2xAA is blast from the past but some people like it and I am in that group.
One of reasons is that I don’t like short flashlights which I can’t hold comfort in my hand.
AA batteries You can find everywhere so it is good for emergency cases.
I have Wurkkos WK05 and I use frequently.
It have good balance between power and battery life, especially when use AA Nimh.
So it can be good idea to produce new flashlight in that format but it must has some features which other light’s in this format haven’t if You plan to sold big number of pcs.

I’m more into HDxx with swappable 2x14500 / 2xAA instead of “pen” like flashlight.

I like single battery lights.

I like single 16340 better than two AA.
I like single AA better than two AA.
I like single 18650 better than two AA

I like USB charging built into the light.
Also like USB charging built into the battery.

1 Thank

I took like the way it fits in my hand better than a 18650 powered light. They’re both good, but different.

2 Thanks

Thanks, so are you more interested in lithium batteries’ ’ flashlight?
