Does the ring tone of vapcell S4 + need to be cancelled?

Thank you for your advice,

Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion. We need to communicate with software engineers

If there is no battery in the slot, a bell will ring when the power is turned on

Please confirm

Nope.

Edit: Now I’m curious. I’m not very knowledgeable about electronics but I’ll open the charger and see if there’s something obvious wrong.

When I had my S4+, the ring tone at the end of charging was the most annoying thing about the charger, especially at night. Since the charger doesn’t have a date / time / timezone setting, having a DND mode will be difficult, maybe a switch to allow people to turn it off. None of my other chargers ring when charging complete, and they work just fine.

BTW, my S4+ self-combusted when charging a cell (which I charged later on another charger just fine), so for those folks who own it, don’t keep it close to combustible material.

Mine doesn’t do this either. I got mine from 18650batterystore. It actually seems to analyze the current state of batteries faster than my brothers and his has the ringtone when the devices starts while mine does not.

Good ideal

The Opus’ LCD display can be made permanently On when the Display button is pressed continually for 3 seconds.

Perhaps the S4 can also learn from this method, either for the end-of-charge Alarm, and even for the Display light. No mold change or additional side buttons that increase cost.

S4 + new version V2.0, you can also press the DISPLAY button 3 seconds to turn off the LCD,

I know the improved S4+ already has this 3-sec feature on the Display…perhaps find a similar way for the Alarm too.

I also like having a tone to signify charge completion.

Although an option (maybe some button press to disable the sound) would be nice too.

(for comparison: the Xtar VP4 Dragon has an option to enable/disable the sound, this is done by doing a double-click of one of the buttons)

Very nice way to exercise the option and very “implementable” for Vapcell.

Personally I like the audible alert. Like some others have said, this charger doesn’t sit on my desk, it’s usually on my kitchen counter or somewhere a few feet away in another room so I find it useful since I don’t have to continuously get up to check on it.

While we’re talking about updates will this thing ever get a proper ‘storage’ charge mode? I find that much more useful than the wonky cap test mode that I rarely use.

@vapcell Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Will this new version last longer than 10 months or will it quit working like the last one?
Did like the charger while it worked however did not care much for luck of communication or any kind of response from nealsgadet when the charger quit working only after 10 months.
Do not like to be left with another one destined for the junk pile.

Happy new year!

What’s new in the Vapcell S4+ 2.0?

Curious about the status of this new charger.

Regarding the completion "beep/beeps", I generally charge overnight so, a slow charge and silence matter to me. The last thing I want are beeps in the middle of the night waking me up.

In terms of "are we there yet", if I am impatient for the battery to charge, I tend to "hover" over the charger to check its status frequently while regretting my lack of proper planning earlier in the day.

USB-C PD input would be awesome. 12V 3A, 20V 3A etc.

I tried a USB-C to DC adapter with a 12V PD trigger but the Vapcell S4 Plus draws more than 3A.

Hi there,

maybe it´s to late but sometimes the ring tone is some kind of disturbing, depending on what I do. On other situations I like it, so a switch would be nice

Another nice feature is displaying also the charge in mAh if the cap test is running, atm only the discharge power is shown.

BTW, a selection of a 400mA for AAA (or similar) and 750mA (or similar) charge for AA cells would be very nice
