Very nice

I would like to see Sofirn release a 10440/AAA flashlight.

“Driver: FET driver for white light, buck driver for red light”

Why??? So close to being a good EDC mini light. Just use buck driver for both channels, you can even use one buck driver and FET’s down stream to switch channel since you are not going to activate both at the same time anyway. There are lights on the market that does this already. The old tint-ramping IF25 (not IF25A) and Convoy’s S21F both uses one buck driver to drive 2 channels.

If the buck driver is low power (1A? ) that’s also okay, use FET for turbo and buck for normal modes. At least we get regulated, efficient normal modes and FET turbo. That would be real innovation.

So, so close. Got me really interested for a second.

BTW I really love your SP31V3 519A version (in green). It has become my new EDC light. It nailed many design aspects: Efficient driver, good emitter, good form factor, beam with good throw, good 300 lm medium mode. It shows that listening to the community can help you create desirable products.

Also, your power level indicator is really confusing. green for >70% and red for 30-70% ? IMO it should be green for >30% and red for 10%-30%, then red flashing for < 10%. Since red usually means low power, red flashing means power critical and shut down imminent. 70% is by no means a low power state. I usually see a red power indicator and panic to try to change the cell and the cell still measures 3.76v! That’s way too conservative.

When renowned 18650 lights like the BLF-A6 and the EagleEye X6 came on the market, people started buying 18350 bodies to create their own short WOW-versions. Glad to see that today the manufacturers themselves are stepping in that market segment. So far, most of these lights have the same shortcomings as the ones we created ourselves: the WOW-moments are quite short. I think it’s about time to not only manufacture 21700 throwers, but also 18350 EDC lights, with maximum sustainability. May be not on "turbo"level , but definitely on “med” or “high”.

My only wish for Sofirn right now is that you guys start using more efficient drivers. It only cost a couple more bucks to implement. Charge us 5$ more and call it a day. I’m sure people are willing to pay more for a long lasting light that we can trust.

What @FunkyRider86 said. Buck for secondary channel and FET for main channel is a bit weird. Otherwise the flashlight looks really interesting!

The designs look amazing, also the size seem to be nice. All I wish for is a buck or boost driver (for all channels), runtimes at lower levels are a lot more improtant than high turbo outputs!

2 Thanks

@Sofirn , your official site often has less usefull info than Aliexpress does. SR20 page lacks CCT info.

1 Thank

That must be fun to go outside in that weather using flashlight
SR20 seems to be more EDC for casual occasion (flood) and SR12 has more throw with usable spill, perfect for hiking.

I think it would be great for SR20mini to have both channel regulated.

I dont see UI chart for SR12, but I assume it is the same as with SR20mini.
I think for a thrower, SOS and beacon mode seems to be more useful.

For me, SR20mini suits my needs better

More efficient drivers. Better emitters.
Better shipping. Lower ccts.
Would’ve bought more sp10pros if emitter less green, colors available, better clip- buck/boost
Same with sc13- anduril, buck/boost

Thanks for the giveaway. I’d like to see more efficient drivers. Some kind of small work light would be neat. Must be high CRI with good tint (519A).

Example of good and efficient drivers are SP35 and SP31V2.0.
I like SP10 V3 but it will be better when it will have a bigger throw.
Sofirn C8 would get SFT40 led and buck driver.

Thanks for the giveaway, Sofirn!
(I’m not in this one.)

Thanks for the giveaway! I would like to see the return of the C01 series or something similar since I just missed it when it was still in production.

Thanks for the giveaway. Other than a more efficient driver, I think the ramping also needs some changes.

Right now it is kind of tricky to use, the low end is too fast and the top end is too slow. Maybe it is numerically linear but it’s definitely not visually linear.

I have a question about the sr12.
Why is he running up the stairs with an empty backpack?
Is that what you think hiking is?
The vast majority of all new lights you put out are cold white.
I keep looking at every new one you put out.
I’m done looking.

SR20 nice.

For me, I’d want more efficient (buck?) drivers and high cri led.

Like everyone said, efficient drivers are essential if you use a light for extended periods. Hasn’t really been an issue, but extra durability is also appreciated. Switches that stay firm, USB charging that is well supported etc.

That SR20Mini looks really interesting. As others mentioned I’d love for it to have the buck converter for both channels though it’s not a dealbreaker for me and I’ll probably get one sooner or later ^^.

Also I’d love for the SR12 to have a narrow TIR (I much prefere TIR beam profiles) and 5000K SFT25R instead, all the rest is great
