DRY Group BUY from cnqualitygoods.com

Johnny, if I can make someone laugh out of something stupid I say, It's worth it. My intention is to never offend anyone, no matter where they're from. Even if they hate us Americans..... I'm a TROUBLE MAKER!! Sorry lol!

China post is very different to fedex, a private company.

As far as I'm aware fedex doesn't get too involved with the customs side of things in any country as it's private and therefore isn't licensed to check, In the UK atleast from what I've been told royal mail does the customs side of things and passes this info on to fedex who send the information to customers.

The sending of items to the USA has changed alot recently and anything over 400g's must go on cargo planes, where as before smaller items would be added to the hold of certain planes that had a contact and would therefore arrive faster than waiting for a cargo plane. This is due to the risk of any bomb and such. These items after finally being checked in china to be safe, waiting for a cargo plane, flying to the US. Then are checked for all sorts of contraband, any tax that should be charged on them...and then processed to be sent out all over the USA.

It's a complicated process, that can be delayed at many points for one reason or another....jumping to the conclusion Ric is to blame because he didn't manage to let every single buying know all the details is wrong.

well, like I said I don’t know abut china post, however, FedEx DOES process international packages and I deal with customs on a daily basis. I work as a QA clerk and part of my job is making sure our international packages are processed correctly (verify paperwork and enter the information Into the computer for the destination country’s customs records). all of this has to be done manually by hand for each package, sometimes we get 20 international packages in a day, sometimes we get 200.
I am sure china does not process internationals this way, however I still think the packages got shipped out later than promised and that’s why our tracking number didn’t work until 10 days after it was provided. if the packages were truly returned, the tracking information should have shown a RTS ( return to shipper). was in progress.

I doubt there is one person in this thread that isn’t aware that some delays are beyond Ric’s control or responsibility. The only questions I see being asked (you apparently see them as unwarranted complaining) are things completely within Ric’s control and within his responsibility. Such things as informing all buyers whether their item has shipped or not (especially since he is well aware that at least 7 packages from this GB were returned by the post) and, if it has shipped, what the tracking number is. That’s it…that’s all anyone wants to know and I am amazed at how many of his customers have received no confirmation as to the status of their orders. So please stop the complaints that people are complaining about things beyond Ric’s control or his responsibility.

My NW - non step down - DRY arrived today.

I also have CW version (bought last year) and now I understand why so many people prefer NW tint over CW.

I love it!

except..

this thing makes a loud whining noise! it is clearly audible in all 4 modes and super annoying.

What should I do? I tried swapping whole tail cap button and battery holder from CW version and tightened everything but it is still there.. sigh

I don't see them as complaining, and I perfectly understand people's complaints...however I don't feel some of the people really tried to contact Ric... and by possibly waiting until after CNY and getting a response of Ric will be more than satisfied. I'm fairly certain once he's up and running again he'll en devour to make things right and fully explain the situation.

In retail you're reputation is everything, you won't sell a thing if everyone thinks you're rubbish....and I just wanted to try and protect Ric's image on this board. He's been nothing but a great dealer as far as I'm concerned.

I've seen a lot of posts/threads on the board that throw up issue's with seller's before the person has even allowed the seller to deal with the issue fully, this is brand damaging to the seller...and not what I personally come to the forum to read. Personally I see why people are upset that they have to wait longer for the light, but once Ric is back the likelihood is that this will become a non issue.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, just how I'm seeing things

But back on topic. Has anyone found anything they like as a sleeve or wrap for the DRY to improve the grip on it?

Thanks.

I’ve thought aboutusing something like skateboard grip tape on the flats of the main body. I’ve also considered having a shop machine some knurling onto the body. I’m reluctant to use anything that makes an already fat body any fatter.

it's been mentioned that someone put large O rings around it to make it better

I'd love someone to design a sleeve out of copper or aluminium that it could be placed in and out of.

I'd also pay a fair bit for that, if the design was good...machining well done and it fit nicely and provided good grip it would easily be worth $30-$60.

I received mine today. The light was in the house for maybe ten minutes and the power went out. Haha! Either this thing sucked all the power out of the house or it came with some bad juju. Waiting on the batteries to finish charging.

Hi weiser701 and Folks,

I sent the funds (via PayPal) on Jan 2nd EST (Jan 3rd at 2:51am PST). Ric did send an acknowledgement on the 3rd or 4th but I have not heard anything since.

BTW, I ordered one NW Version A and one CW Version B along with a holster.

The Chinese New Year notwithstanding, I'M BEGINNING TO GET WORRIED!

Any recommendations???

Regards,

-Bob- (KumaBear)

Almost like it was meant to be...

Trustex Assorted Colors DRY Condoms

LOL!

Please see post #432.

Ric will not leave you out to DRY. (I know, puns are cheap.)

This has probably been asked already but, why is it called a "DRY?" Did they mean to say "DIY?"

whydryFoy

I believe 2100 said it meant "popular."

I haven't had a chance to check them out but they're here!

I guess Ric has been too busy to send out a lot of email messages - easily understood given Chinese New Year and the quantity of orders.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to giving them a good looking over and trial run.

Arrived yesterday after the CNY delay. Shipped on 10th. Approx 13 business days. Really like the compactness. Thanks for the group buy.

I picked it up today at the post office.

Shipped on jan-12, arrived on jan-27. It caught me by surprise, I really didn't expect it so soon. I live in a country where things often don't go smooth. From the shipment tracking log, it seems the package was in my hands 6 days after it was "inserted into bag" at the Hong Kong Mail Centre. I presume that means it went airborne. I'm impressed.

It had a partial print on the flat part of the reflector. Now it has an ugly smear where the print used to be. :(

It has a small dent/scratch on the inner edge of the bezel, visible if you take a real close look. I'm not bothered by it at all, it will probably get more damage by regular usage.

Tailcap fits decently to the tube, not mismatched, hardly noticable difference.

It whined ever so slightly, but once it started flickering I just pulled the driver out, took a quick look around, put it back and screwed it a little better than it was. No whining nor flicker after that, yet.

Battery holder is the upgraded version, but to me it feels shabby. Like inserting the batteries harshly might break the holder.

Oh, holster has a much oversized lid. :)

And another thing that bugs me very much... I cannot charge the batteries because I'll go to sleep. I have a charger with only 2 bays. I'll have to charge the *decent* batteries in two turns, TOMORROW.

I have 6 batteries that were decent 8+ years ago when the laptop they were pulled out of was new. Now you can see how the brightness diminishes with your bare eyes.

I love the neutral white! It really isn't so much of a difference from cool white, and certainly not as much as the photos suggest. But it's definitely there, and I like it better than CW. Honestly, I thought I got CW until I turned on my Ultrafire T6-V60 (which is CW). CW is brighter when comparing, but NW is much easier to the eye.

To sum up, I love my new DRY! :D

Thanks for the group buy, thanks to weiser701 for organizing, thanks to Ric for supporting the idea and thanks to the community for responding so well!

Viktor

As of this morning, mine still showed as being in the NY processing center. It was delivered here at noon. Can't wait to get those batteries properly charged. I'd like to apologize in advance to my neighbors...
