I was just wondering has anyone ever bought the extreme beam m1000 fusion. It is supposed to be 800 lumen with a throw to flood focusable beam.
There’s a review over on CPF, which I see you’ve already found. Extremebeam are not a company I could recommend due to dishonest marketing claims and high prices/poor design choices on previous models.
However, the M1000 does seem to be something different and comparatively original. If anyone else has seen it before under a different name and at a much cheaper price then they are welcome to chime in here though.
Yes Red forest I did read the debate going and have looked at the super fires etc.Am I wrong in assuming that one was bought and tried.I like the concept of the light and cannot find anything that matches it.I like the flood to throw idea but most of the lights I find don’t match the other criteria I’m looking for.Optics Planet has it for 109.00 I’m probably gonna order it anyway cause I’ve spent 20 times that this year on lights so what the hell.
Someone did test out the right angle head version of the Ultrafire WF-502b that they do, and found that the build quality and finish of the host was significantly better than many cheap sources for the ‘Ultrafire’, although many of these sources actually sell fakes anyway. But the performance wasn’t that great and the UI is of course still very simple and ‘budget’.
I would point out that while the ‘focusability’ of the light sounds good, it doesn’t use optics designed for it. They simply allow the head to unscrew a little and raise the reflector, which takes the LED a little out of optimal focus. This will give quite a messy beam, lose some lumens OTF (they even use a reflector with a flat ring right up to the LED which will cause much more waste, not a reflector designed with this functionality in mind!) and it also won’t spread the beam that much compared to many true TIR/aspheric based focusable lights. But I can see how it could still be useful in certain situations.
Other than using a d battery I have also looked at the coast HP 314 it definitely has a nice beam profile. If there is any other lights with the flood to throw beam I would welcome all suggestions.
They claim to be the main flashlight supplier to pretty much every major armed force in the world, but yet nobody has heard of them, and their products all look like $10 Ultrafires. Not only that, but if you point out that they look like budget lights, they throw a fit and stomp away indignant. Hmmm, what could possibly go wrong with that picture? But wait! Their flashlights guard the Pope! It doesn’t get any more legit than that, right?
In all fairness the flashlight did appear to be legit in the review, but no, sorry, the company just comes across as too shady to earn my business. And if you see the post where site owner tore me a new one for daring to suggest that maybe this company wasn’t what they appear to be, that’s the day I realized that CPF wasn’t the place that I thought/hoped it was. But that’s good, because I never would’ve landed here at BLF!
Well I don’t know how well it actually works but apparently from the video you can smash drywall with it. I would be interested to see their ONE MILE beam (24,000lux) though. I have a hard time taking any company seriously when I see stuff like this. I’m not going to post the video and give them free advertising.
I certainly don’t expect a one mile beam in fact my super duper powertac was supposed to have a 600 m beam, yeah right not even close. If the focusable beam works to a reasonable distance I will be happy.
Has anyone told you that this light is actually good? Have you seen one in person? Seriously when companies use this kind of advertising I’m always very skeptical. Their beam shots on youtube are a joke. Not once did they even show how it focuses. What kind of driver does it use or emitters or anything that justifies spending a hundred bucks?
Edit again, I see one now with the so called flood. All it does is take the reflector out of focus.
If I had seen one in person I wouldn’t have so many questions. If you have an idea for a throw to flood light any suggestions would be appreciated. In my originalthread it was large high output wall smasher,3-400 m that runs on 18650 or cr123a.
I have actually owned a bunch of different flood to throw but I don’t really think any of them fit the bill or I would suggest one. They have all been pretty much the same. The coast ones are supposed to be something else though. But not your battery type. I think to get what you are looking for you would have to have someone mod one for you or do it yourself. I guess if this light has the flood you are looking for go for it. But to me it’s just an ok light that you can take out of focus.
My advice would be to look for a light with some good throw with a lot of spill because I just don’t think you will find that good of a flood to throw light at least I never have.
Optics Planet has a good return policy if the m1000 is junk then I can just get the coast. And then if I’m gonna start a new D cell collection then the tk 70 will just have to get delivered. Its a win win except for my wife she’s gonna divorce me because her exact words were(if you bring any more flashlights inhere I’m leaving. I’ll miss her!
Well good luck anyway.
Well I bought the m1000 ,Yes it will not go a mile but it goes pretty far.Side by side with my olight m3x ,its not as far but the beam is wider so it covers more area.I know a lot of you guys don’t like the manufacturers overstated claims but the light itself is the toughest light I’ve ever owned.I’ve got all the big name lights ,surefire included and nothing has the heft of this one.The flood beam isn’t to bad,it has a few rings in it but its wide.If anyone mods flashlights try using this one,in my opinion you’ll be happy.I am not an expert on flashlights, but materials I understand , being in the trades for over 25 years I know a good piece of metal when I see it.I’ve spent nearly 2000 dollars in lights in the last 1 and 1/2 years and Chinese is Chinese, regardless of what name is in it.Another thing I notice of the different brand names is the machining is to similar, like no matter who’s name on it,its made in the same place.
I wouldn’t agree that all Chinese made lights are equal quality, some are clearly much better than others. There may be differences in machining etc common to all Chinese manufacturers compared to US based ones though. You’re aware that extremebeam lights are made in China aren’t you?
Yes that’s kinda my point it seems like everything is made in china. And yes some of my lights are better then others with all China made things being equal.
What China made lights do you own? There are noticable increments in quality from fire to Solarforce/Convoy/Balder to Fenix/Nitecore/Zebralight/Sunwayman. I would say the quality difference between**fire and Fenix is much greater than Fenix and Surefire. Many of Surefire’s newer models (6px/G2x) aren’t any better made than top Chinese brands like Sunwayman either imo. Surefire do of course have the better warranty though.
In fact Red forest I’m surprised at some of the lights that people really endorse I was quite dissapointed with them.I know I’m going to have to take the next step and learn to build to achieve what I want. One of my passions is shooting and though metallurgy has really come a long way, cheap manufacturing in general keeps products of lower quality then it could be.Building materials in the last 10 years have taken an absolute nosedive and it doesn’t matter what name us on it.Its one of the biggest reasons I changed careers,to many call backs.
Agreed the sure fires are in my opinion not any better then some of the other ones.Solar force I was surprised how nice they are for the money. On all my lights there are features I like and don’t like, these are just my observations based on my experiences.
I would generally recommend Fenix/Sunwayman as two of the more consistently solid build quality Chinese brands, although some models may not be as reliable as others. Zebralight are generally quite solid too, but with the odd lemon and a few QC issues sometimes regarding fit, finish and water resistance. Solarforce are very good for the money I agree, but there’s more hassle with sorting a drop-in too and ensuring a good thermal path etc.
I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of Convoy hosts from Fasttech, builds based on the S2 come out very cheap with an easy choice of emitter tint and drive current from the different quantity AMC7135 based drivers. I would say that the quality of the host is up there with Fenix and some newer Surefires in most respects. Of course the quality of the internal assembly will depend on your own soldering skills
