Finally built my DDH-D2GC!

Cree XM-MR 5000K:

It’s not as green as it looks:

I designed and built my own Anduril2 FET+1 driver for it:

26 Thanks

Sweet. I would like to know more about the driver.

1 Thank

Looks awesome! Can’t wait for mine to show up.

1 Thank

It’s just a FET+1 that uses a T1616 MCU.

I used a PFET instead of a diode for RVP/RPP, that increases the voltage to the MCU about 0.2v to 0.3v.
That should help with FET RDS(on) to squeeze as much current as possible.
There’s a hole in the center for a + spring bypass,
I’m using 18ga wire in my D2GC/XM-MR.

I don’t have the 3D renderings on my phone but here’s pictures of the PCB:

So the fet part is basically direct drive? Or is there a current limit? Asking because XM-MR has Vf high enough to drive it straight from a solid 21700 to reach max current

1 Thank

It uses PWM but on turbo it’s basically Direct Drive.

That’s the Plan, maximum Lumens!
I have a Lumen Tube and will get lumen measurements soon.

1 Thank

I realy like the look of those DDh hosts! Where’d yu get it? Reminds me of Nightwatch

1 Thank

That’s the tricky part.
KaiDomain has a bunch(they use different names)
But this particular host isn’t available on KD, though the mechanical switch version is.
I ordered this host and a DDH-M4B from TaoBoa via SuperBuy.

Pictures of my M4B:
As it comes with a single 21700 Tube:

With an optional Dual 21700 Tube:

The M4B uses a 32mm driver and a 32mm MCPCB.
I’m putting a 6v SFP55 in mine:

You’re the second person to tell me that today LOL.

4 Thanks

Nice. I think Nightwatch might borrow hosts from DDh.

The size is prfect for L21A except for the e switch. It probably wouldn’t work as is with a clicky, would it?

They have a similar sized tail switch light that uses a 26650 battery and they have an optional 26800 extension:

2 Thanks

But I already have 2 L21As  Just looking for a fet driver that can push 20A or at least 15A

Oh, you were talking about the driver not the host.

I read it as, this host would be a good L21a replacement.

MTN sells 22 mm fet drivers.

Actually, you can use this driver:

My buddy measured 18A in a S21A Quad 519A that I built with this driver.

1 Thank

This is the driver I’m using with XM-MR and EVE 50PL. I just thought it is somehow limited to 12A but obviously delivers whats available.

1 Thank

Yeah, Simon’s description leads you to believe that but it’s a FET driver.

3 Thanks

Thanks for the valuable info

Nice Work , You taking orders

I’m not a beam shot expert but here we go:
