Thanks. An old copy of Adobe Photoshop (CS6) is still quite handy!
Btw, I’m curious — what’s the best way to remove a bezel on a Fireflies light such as the PL47 series? I’m thinking that the PL47G2 may have a certain flexibility, whereby removal of the optic can essentially turn it into a PL47mu. Of course, removing/replacing the optic wouldn’t be something you’d do frequently (could cause enough wear for the bezel to stop fitting well).
I placed my order over the weekend, not realizing that Monday was when the 11.11 deals ended. Just in time!
Sadly the PL47’s are press-fit bezels. Maybe glued as well. Not an easy thing to remove. But if you do, it has to be pressed back on and maybe with tape. I’m not too sure.
As for mule. The PL47g2 has a longer head. So while you could do a mule if you got the bezel off, it would sit a little deeper inside the head. But it obviously is possible. Getting that bezel off is the trick tho. .
Mine removed itself, just take it outside when it’s freezing and put it in turbo
I’m not sure if you could make it a mule this easily though, my impression is that the TIR block is what the lens stackup presses against to form a seal though I’m not 100% sure about that.
Yikes! That’s not good. I may do a test on mine. Put the flashlight in the freezer, take it out, install a battery then put on turbo for a few mins and see if the bezel loosens.
Yes, in some cases the TIR on triple/quad flashlights is used to keep the front glass in place, but some not. My FW3A—took out the optic and instant mule. The screw-on bezel anchored it. I do believe the glass ends up pressed against the battery tube, so you have to be careful not to tighten too much as it could break the glass. Of course, it is possible to take an optic and then drill it out to leave just the perimeter for a glass bracing.
Btw, what’s with “Lift Life’s Height to a Finer Fire”?
Is this an example of some “lost in translation” for a Chinese expression? Because it’s such an odd saying. I don’t quite know what it means. If anyone here is fluent in Chinese, I wonder if they could provide a more “workable” variation for saying it in English.
My interpretation is like “Raise up the quality of life with a stronger fire.”
the promotion are on, right now, just lower price on some flashlight strait on the site. But there's no decryption what's lower, and what's not.
From what I see, all the cheap driver option are lower price, but the lume1 are still original price.
But the problem is, all prices are back to $ :D
Black Friday Sale at Firefly-outdoor.com until the 29th/30th of November. Most sale items are even a little cheaper than it was for the 11/11 sale. P02 is irresistible in 519A, that makes 4 new lights.
Sorry, the P03 orange is back , but all the Orange P03 has big flaws on head and body, we can not ship them out . Can you accept P03 deep red or Matt black? P03 Red or Black are in perfect condition.
Looking forward your repl
It seems that as part of the Firefly-Lite post-order checkout process, a tracking number gets issued before preparation of the item purchased is completed. It’s not just manufacture, but each unit is thoroughly tested. And if there’s anything not measuring up to standards, it has to go back for correction. Meanwhile, you have a tracking number that shows the package is awaiting carrier. In my case it was 22 days. I contacted customer service a week prior and hadn’t heard back. A subsequent message with photo capture of my tracking status from 17track.net finally got a response. I was told my order had been completed and the package was being picked up the next morning, and to wait about 2 to 3 days for the status to be reflected. 3 days later, tracking shows that indeed the carrier picked up my package.
I did make a suggestion that Firefly-Lite wait until all work is completed before issuing a tracking number. This way a buyer is not left wondering what is the status after a long period of no action by the shipping carrier.
Firefly-Lite is a very small outfit. One must temper order fulfillment different from mainstream businesses. I imagine a majority of Jack’s customers are from various flashlight communities in USA/EU/OZ and in China, who have expectations set accordingly. The wait may be long, but it’s worth it!!
NOTICE: I believe FireflyLite is using YunExpress shipping carrier in China for all orders. YunExpress uses partner carriers in the destination countries. Unfortunately, the invoice from FireflyLite uses 17 Track… which momentarily stops tracking once the parcel has made it to customs of the destination country.
YunTrack is a site that WILL track your package further, PLUS give you the essential info—the in-country tracking number. Look for “Last Mile Tracking.” The number will be different. And then in the “Additional Notes” down on the lower right, you’ll see a reference to the “last mile” carrier.
YunExpress partners with many different carriers. I had tried the 2nd number with USPS, DHL, UPS, and FedEx but no joy. I came to learn that LaserShip was being used. I went to that carrier website and sure enough, the 2nd number worked there and I can see subsequent tracking info since entering country. I was expecting my package to arrive in the 1st week of January, but now it’s updated… should be in a few days. Seems that post-Christmas, speed is picking up.
Btw, 17 Track did finally update with the LaserShip status, but it still didn’t show the LaserShip tracking number. So, best to use YunTrack.
Just want to share that I saw on reddit that loneoceans posted a description of the new lume1 driver in more detail. Probably worth a read. I am definitely more excited for future flashlight releases but I really want to try out this driver, may have to pick up one flashlight sometime!
I got mine. Overall good deal. This further proves the best and only time to buy this stuff is between 11/11 and New Years. Any other time you will overpay by 25%.
I’m in a similar position with my PL47G2. Ordered November 13th.
USPS tracking number says “Picked up by shipping partner (YunExpress), USPS Awaiting Item” on Dec 16th.
Then, YunExpress tracking updates and says “delivery to local courier” on Dec 22nd.
No updates since.
So according to YunExpress, it’s with a “local courier” (no idea if that’s supposed to be USPS or some other delivery service) and according to USPS, it’s with YunExpress…
I’m beginning to wonder if my order is lost in the mail or something.
It’s been either 7 or 13 days since the last update. Don’t know how much longer I should wait before assuming it’s lost. According to YunEpress it’s apparently been stateside since the 18th. I’ve never had it be this long without an update once it’s in the US and cleared customs. Only people I can contact is USPS and they won’t have any info on a package they don’t have yet…
