yes, the AA capable Sunwayman include V10r, and V11r. They make about 90 lumens max on Eneloop, with a High CRI 219b swap. (that is the extension from a V11r)
I am trying to learn to appreciate AA, but I dont.
Im trying to respect that long and thin can be more comfortable to carry, but since I insist on the Rotary UI, I find the AA is unreasonably larger than the CR123 Rotary options
my experience was all AAA, before I adopted CR123 size.
My reason was More Power! lol
in practical terms
AAA, and AA max out around 100 lumens w a 219b
my move to CR123 lets me reach 200 lumens w a 219b
for me, the appeal of AA is as a gift, so I dont have to teach lithium safety to muggles… Im looking forward to the arrival of a Copper AA Tool
For my personal use, the Rotary UI is paramount
if Rotary was available in AAA, I would carry it
the smallest rotary AA I can think of is the V11r with extender, pictured on left
but these are only rarely found on the used market only
it makes no sense for me to carry an AA eneloop light, when I can carry a 16340 light
but as a gift to a muggle… I choose AA
IF it was available, I would gift the Nitecore D10. it is imo, the best AA light I know of atm.
There IS an AA Rotary available today, the 2020 RRT-01 offers adapters to fit a wide selection of batteries
1. Not moddable as the lens is press fit and unscrewing over the rotator ring would destroy the light, according to JetBeam (Maybe the driver cables would be cut as in the 2012 RRT01).
2. The rotator ring has stepping all the way round, so even though it has the same driver as the RRT01, it is actually not stepless.
