green led conversion for thrower HELP PLEASE!!

Believe it or not I am in the blind. Am hunting over feeder with lights for hogs and in another direction have pig guts for yotes (from morning hunt). Have had hell with DX lenses. Only one very good out of four. One is marginal. Two suk. These are from three orders over four months. The trick to getting the correct focal lenght for the TR1200 (fixed/ridgid/machined to fix) for me is to mount it in my Maglite red PT54 first. The head is adjustable for focus. Set focus. Remove the bezel & lens, then measure with a depth micrometer to emitter surface. Record measurement and machine the TR1200 identically. HTH, willie
PS… Chinese lens focal point vary so each lens dim vary. At the moment I have there different lenses ordered from another source.

cvimellesgriot.com has excellent quality(from info in cpf) aspherical lenses in all diff sizes, thickenss, with or without ar coating etc. the ones simular to what you use, lag-52.0-37.0-c, uncoated cost $29.

what about the sizes/type of beam you are getting from your best red asperical mag lite.?( for example- how much would the hot spot cover on a wall at 100 yds)

i see from a post of yours that you have a fandyfire, i am surprised you have not stuck a pt54 in that yet!!!

Some thoughts about red SST90 or PT54 (w/3M insulated pad) mounting in a Fannyfire V6. There is a driver on DX rated at 6.5A that is cheap and KD offers a 9A. At present I am using a 5.0A SST50 driver from DX in the V6. Actual amps at tail cap is about 3.7a on my XL-M. There is plenty of room for a driver swap on the V6. This combo might(?) have the spill you desire. Another idea is with two 4/3AF 4200ma NiMH am getting 5.5A+ @ tail cap vs 8A+ with D cells in MAG conversion. All of the above numbers are from memory and may not be exact. CRS. All NiMH no drivers, w/direct drive. http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S010140 http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S010139 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/12v-sst-90-5-mode-memory-circuit-board-for-flashlights-50026 Or this with a 26650 lifepo4 (runs at 3.2V so less driver heat) & an modded 7135 driver for high amps... http://www.dealextreme.com/p/fandyfire-hd2010-cree-xm-l-t6-600lm-5-mode-white-led-flashlight-1-x-18650-107154

Willie

thanks for the pt54 info, i already bought 2 off ebay.

thanks! i bought one, but mine is going to be for night fishing - no idea how I'll set it up, maybe mod a lantern

Good post Great for hunters wanted to build a hunting light.

Check out this link: TR1200 PT54 RED Aspheric Build
I have made a mock up for a coin cell powered fet tape switch that needs to be added to that link. Standard tape switch had too much resistance.
