I would hope that in a case like this they are waiting to build all the drivers when the samples meet approval. Most of these I think are done on pick and pluck machines, whole sheet of the driver mcpcb’s are re-flowed at once. If that’s the case, simply putting the required resistor in the bin for the machine to pick up accomplishes the task. No redesign, not much trouble at all.

Even if they already have these built en-masse, they could simply add an R140 to the R030 and have .024706 total resistance. We know they have R140’s because they used those on the original driver. Easy peasy, however you look at it.

Or, anyone wanting to step up these drivers can easily do the same themselves. The Fujik like white silicone they used is very soft, cuts away pretty easily with an Xacto knife. While you’re at it, you might stick an XM-L2 U3 on in place of the U2

I wish thats how they worked, its like stepping into the twilight zone, whats easy for you is impossible for them, and what makes no sense to you is childs play to them

I am dismayed that no one has seen an actual AR coated lens for this light yet, i’m willing to bet the final light won’t get it (what is the size of the lens, i want to see if i can find one somewhere)

as do I, well my first every I bought myself vehicle back in 93 while a E-3 in the Marines was a Mazda B2300…that had “Ford” everything on it (Ford Ranger in disguise )

I am actually in the process of trading my ’07 Yamaha V-Star 650 for a 2000 or a 1999 Ford Ranger (I have a full size Dodge Ram 2500 diesel that is currently out of commission and I need a smallish truck for commute and to haul light stuff)

wasn’t dissing the Ranger man…was using it as a comparison…you get the mega hotrod for the price of a smallish truck…get it

A short video showing an X6 with NW beside an X6 with CW. The CW is this sample, the NW is one I’d gotten a while back that is running 7 levels, in this video it’s on level 6 which is about 930 lumens so it compares favorably to the sample on Turbo. (This X6 with NW pulls over 7A for 1667 lumens on level 7, by the way)

Convoy L4 has current regulated buck driver and is not much more expensive than the GB light. There is some gain at higher levels from extra voltage converted to extra current at the beginning. L4 runs 1h 20m to low voltage warning on high on 2600mAh cell, same as Convoy S2 with 2100mA driver. But the main reason I would want a current regulated driver is for better efficiency on lower modes. Quite a waste running moon with 3.5A efficiency.

I’d like to know more about this driver, i read the review of the light that came up when i searched but it does not explain anything about it

I really think we don't need a sign up list. Nobody has the time and effort to use it in any real sense anyway. Just forget about it.....!!!

Just produce enough lights, and sell them on a first come first serve......

Nobody cares what number you are on the list....

It might still be a good idea to put a maximum amount of light per buyer... So at least there is not just 1 buyer buying 100 of them..

I can’t answer your question. But I’m surprised people don’t want memory. I wonder if this comes from the fact so many budget lights are “next mode memory”. Which this isn’t.

Mode memory simply means, that most times you turn the light on, it’ll be in the mode you want. Because there is a high chance the mode you use the most will be the mode you left the light in.

While I am happy that all the final details have been sorted and the GB is going ahead earlier than originally expected, I am struggling to understand why on earth 500 of these lights will be made, then available for sale, then shipped before another 500 are ready especially when we’re up to 750 or so on the list.

They seriously can’t be worried about making 1000 lights and not being able to sell all of them, or could they?

Ok, explaining once more:

Memory is handy when you mainly use one mode, I use low-low very often (to not wake up the family) and high very often as well (for everything else, I don't care much for a medium but it is always there). So for me memory s***s big time, always afraid it comes on in high in the middle of the night and wake people up. My EDC is a Eagletac D25C clicky, with head loose it always starts in (proper) moon.

And this is not just for my EDC, for every flashlight there's occasions that I want to be sure it comes on in low not to disturb people/situations.
