I bought one at the end of 2023 at it had usb-c but also slightly larger diameter tube inside to accommodate for bigger battery size. The one in 2022 and early 2023 had micro-usb batteries.
PS Remember people that XP-L have SMO and Nichia OP reflector.
I would be in for a Nichia model, preferably if it were updated with a 519. I already have a 219 model and love it. Really wish they continued to evolve and make this model.
SOS/strobe with a rotary switch? Naw, count me out just for that.
Moreso with the emitter choice. I like the 219Cs that I got, but I won the tint lottery, as they’re not overly green.
As much as I love my old-timey Jet-1s and Jet-2s (best ano in both color and finish as I’ve seen in almost forever), I rarely use them because they’re overly green.
Knurling is fine, medieval-looking isn’t. And at minimum a 519 would be the best choice of emitter overall. It’s gonna be 2026 in a few days. Let’s not take “retro” so literally.
Loved this one so much…Beatufil model really…But no usb …no order for me anymore…And output should be much higher nowadays..But beatiful flashlight really…
Thank you guys for the input, I could see you love this model and thank you for the suggestions, it will help us for the upgrade version, and now it is mainly for those who haven’t had any Jetbeam or want to have more Jetbeam. Hope to have more connection with you, start from a product with BLF discount. Keep that going. For those who have imput suggestions, I am taking notes and just can not thank you enough.
Thank you for taking our thoughts into consideration. Would you mind providing more details on what this group buy will offer?
Are the emitter choices really XP-L and 219C?
Will it come with battery tubes for 18650 and CR123A?
Will a battery be included? If yes, will it have micro USB or USB-C charging?
Will the light be glued shut?
Is it possible to also purchase the light without a tail switch, or add that as an additional accessory?
I think most of your questions are answered just by looking at the original post:
You get the light in the picture - it’s clearly a 2021 RRT-01, meaning tailswitch only.
The post lists the emitter choices, which appear to be the same as the 2021 RRT-01. So XP-L or 219C only. Fortunately, the 2021 RRT-01 isn’t too hard to emitter swap.
Package contents for the group-buy are listed. The original post specifies that the “Package Contents” include “JETBeam Raptor Flashlight”. Nothing else is listed…so we might assume nothing else is included.
On the other hand, it is reasonable to assume that anything that was included in the box in 2021 should also come with the group buy light: instruction manual, o-rings, 18350 cell, etc.
I don’t remember if the 2021 RRT-01 came with an extension tube. If it did, then the group buy one might also include it.
Jetbeam never sold a CR123A battery tube with a tailcap switch so that is probably not an option. The tube from the newer RRT0 Pro fits 16340, but has no tailcap switch.
The 2021 RRT-01 came with a cell with micro-USB. Hopefully, they will include a newer cell that has USB-C instead.
I don’t think Jetbeam would be interested in selling “Frankenlights”, where each light is a mishmash of parts from different lights and every light is custom. Selling a light they have make in variants they already have is probably the most we can hope for. And if the light is truly out-of-production and out-of-stock, we might not even get that.
It’s not so much about asking for a Frankenlight of sorts, but rather confirming if this is going to be a reproduction of the last iteration or if there are plans of updating it with newer parts. While I’m almost certain that this will be a recreation of the previous model, it’d be nice to get confirmation directly from the source, just in case I’m missing something.
I appreciate your thorough response though, especially since I’m not that knowledgeable with the Jetbeam RRT line. I remember when they came out way back when, but never did pick one up, so this isn’t an area I’m familiar with. Always did like the concept of a rotary though.
So if it’s made to be used with CR123 OR a 18650, wouldn’t that require an extension tube? I’d be in with a high CRI 219C or 519A and require a low moonlight not 1lumen low.
Weird thing is I just bought some old Jetbeam Jet II Pro on Illumn for $40 today. Always wanted one of these Jetbeams but I’ll be disappointed at the too high of a low mode.
As several others have also said, the Nichia 519A is much more preferred now than the 219C for a high CRI emitter. I think it will help increase interest if you’re able to offer that LED.
All known versions of the RRT-01 have infinitely variable brightness with no steps. The ring operates as a dimmer and goes from off all the way to turbo covering everything in between.
The RRT-01 can easily output every possible sub-lumen moonlight mode, starting from “can barely see it in a dark room with dark adapted eyeball staring into the bezel from 1cm away” in a super-dim sub-lumen moonlight.
The RRT-01 may not be the smallest or brightest edc flashlight, but its UI does provide the most intuitive and precise brightness control of ANY flashlight I own. It makes Anduril 2’s brightness control feel positive clunky in comparison.
While the 2021 RRT-01 version has a switch, it is not actually necessary to use it. The light is fully functional with the 2020 body tube which has no tailcap switch.
I love rotary switches.
But CR123 is almost obsolete. I’d suggest an updated version that can use 14500.
Please use more up to date emitters. 219C is also near obsolete as well.
