Took me a while to dig it up, but this thread which was started in 2023 has much the same topic and also some good answers.

Have hand-held lights peaked in terms of technology

Fair question. We have seen lumen wars, candela wars, price wars, and so on. We have gotten to the point where a light has 4000 lumens, fits in the palm of your hand, has 95 CRI, is available in 6500 to 2700 K, and cost under $50. Where do we go from here? It seems we have reached the point of diminishing returns where the cost and time of producing a better light will be exceedingly expensive. We are at the point where the same lights with the same technology produced today are more expens…
