Recognizeable Kirman, i just counted how many lights i own, just 15 :sunglasses:
That would make 1 every month since my subscription :money_mouth_face:
@ecobalans, I am from Haarlem, born and grow up here, at my jonger ages I was in Apeldoorn for 3.5 years, was militair back than, thus no Limburg for me but I visit Roermond a lot, a good military mate of my l lives there.
Yes I got the buying flashlights bug already, before I had buying multimeters bug and believe me that was expensive bug.
Here a old picture of my multimeters, I did post this before here at BLF, but I donāt remember whereā¦ (getting old I guess):
@Yokiamy, I also ordered couple of those Convoy LED switches, but I think I will keep soldering myself, have to up my SMD soldering skills little bit.
@klrman, I ordered enough for a year this month, the thing is, like everyone else I donāt need them all. Specially the Q8, I donāt need a L2 and L6 but I sure will buy one of those too. I EDC a S2+ on my belt at my work, I have one of those multi purpose pants with a lot pockets at work so I am also carrying a OTR M3 with me, specially because it has magnet, it is handy for me.
The lighted tail cap is also for my work, I do work with electricity and sometimes while my flashlight is on a shelf while I am diagnosing the lights go out and than I can find the flashlight a lot easier with lighted tail cap.
I like the desert tan S2+ but man it is hard to make the tail switch lighted, specially with the black button. I have tried with 6 green LEDās up till 600ĀµA even than it wasnāt shining through the transparent gasket in the switch assembly. I hope one day Simon offers a desert tan back side with normal button assembly. I wish I still had my lathe, that way I could make the inner side of the metal button with another material.
Yokiamy, it slowly builds and then the addiction starts
Welcome to BLF!
Woaw! Iām jealous of your shop! So clean, well equipped and organized! Mine looks like a child playground and tends to get messy and dustyā¦ lol
Forget the S2+ā¦ once you have experienced the BLF A6 the S2 seems like an old school torch. The only plus is you can occasionally find them for less then $10. Be careful when you light up the Q8ā¦ you may be impressed. :smiling_imp:
Are you sure you donāt have a DMM addiction ?
Hi patmurris, I clean my electronics ālabā after every project, and if a project is not finished I put the parts in a āTupperwareā like see through bins. I have been that root, not putting things away and it gets messy in a month or two. I have a BLF A6 and a Astrolux S1 so basically two of them, I also got three S2ās with XPL HI and smooth reflectors. I like the S2 more because of its throw, it has little bit more distance, thatās why I use it, the BLF A6 is actually perfect if I didnāt carry a OTR M3 with S2+. So if I had to carry one single light that would be BLF A6. Yeah Q8 puts big on my face!
@Yokiamy, no DMM addiction anymore, didnāt buy one for at least 3 years now :innocent:
Well, i have to temper my addiction a littlebit, bought too much lately, itās getting out of hand.
Today i have received the Jaxman E2L host, which is really top quality, love the SS bezel. I will keep you posted when i assembled it.
Also received shipping notice of my GT
GT looks awesome to be honest, but it would be really dangerous here in Haarlem, I live close to Schiphol Airport, if I start to test (play) with a GT, police will come at my house to check me in I think
Couple years ago they arrested a kid in Hoofddorp, he was playing with a powerful laser and aiming at the planes when they approach to land, which was utterly stupid of him but he was young didnāt know better.
As I look at my collection, I don't need any of my flash lights really and am somewhat surprised I even bought most of them. One of the benefits of joining this forum Your DMM collection is amazing, wow. I'm thinking about making a lighted tail cap for my L6 but I need to read some more info on how to's before I dig into it.
Lighted tail cap is a nice addition, there is a long topic about it, with all ins and outs. You can order PCBās and get useful information.
Good link, thank you SpAwN!
Got two boards today from Simon with Biscotti driver on it, replaced the boards on two of my desert tan S2+ and what a difference, it is just like I wanted, I use group 2.
I was not happy with the old driver delivered from GB but if you do it like this it is still cheap. Paid ā¬11,75 with coupon for the S2+ and paid ā¬3,50 for each board with Biscotti on it.
thatās a very good price, BG is more expensive, and yes, Biscotti is very nice, more modes and a lower low (still not low enough) without blink and regulated, this driver rules!
And you can even stack 7135ās for more output
Hmmm stacking :smiling_imp: I have 2 scrap boards with 8x 7135 on each after this upgrade, but my S2+ has XPL-Hi and if I check the specs it only can handle 3A, I have to read on that one, but I am not sure if itās worth it, the gain is probably not visible.
XPL HI is able to handle higher currents, see TAās tests !
I got an X6 driver in my C8 XPLHI, no problemo.
iāve stacked a driver as well, but later on changed it for a DD driver, hereās some info for stacking
Succes!
Great, thanks for the links, specially the TAās test is very useful. Wel then I got something to do tonight or tomorrow :smiling_imp:
Remember, it will get hot!
The mass of the S2+ will not handle heat as well as a C8/L2/L6
Yes it does get hot
Just finished the mod, and I found out I am getting old :weary: had some trouble with shaky hands, last time I soldered tiny things was on a PS2 years ago.
I lost the 0.1% after adding 4 more 7135ās. So I am on group 10 now (1, 10, 35% and 100). I can understand loosing 0.1, I didnāt check the topic about Biscotti but I guess it is configured to a certain current draw.
The S2+ has 12x 7135ās now, before I started I tested the output simple way by just bouncing the light from ceiling to my Lux meter and it was 109 lux after the mod it jumped to 156 lux, so there is definitely a gain.
Some pictures, salvaging the 7135ās:
Finished the mod, with sloppy soldering job:
Nice work!
I see a dutch modding spree!
For a couple of years it felt a bit lonely here, perhaps in secret there was flashlight modding going on, but at least not many dutch people posted about it.
