Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I went to a new HD the other day. They had a lot of stuff that should have been a penny but none of it was. I thought I hit the jackpot when I found 3 boxes of the night lights with the red and yellow and black. They all rang up for $9.97. I checked and the sku was the same as the newer ones. Had items dated back to mid 2014 that rang up for sticker price.

Believe it or not, I passed on these.
At the time I didn’t realize that they were Energizer MAX, the 10 year ones. No problem though, tonight my wife wanted to go to the casino to play the penny slots. When we do that I leave the casino and go play the “penny game” at the local HD. Didn’t find any penny deals, but I did find those AA cells again. These packages contained a FREE Veterarns pin. So I picked one up!

I also found these 2 LED recessed lights that I plan on using to convert a couple of old Halogen work lights to LED. I figure $3 a piece is a steal for the LED driver and star with multiple LEDs on them. They are normally $18 ea.

The Penny ones have no red in the label. They are grey yellow black

This one is 9.97

This one goes for the penny

Here is a display showing 2 of the penny ones and 1 of the $10 ones

Oh yeah, I forgot. I’m so used to the new new ones that are just red and black.

I had the same problem. I found some items (only very few though, most that I’ve seen are 2015) that are older than September 2014 but they were at full price. :frowning:

I rarely find any items on the clearances that are from 2014, and even rarer ones that are older than September. Am I missing something? :~

Home Depot is selling a 3 gallon oven for $33.

Stock image:

It probably can be found in all Home Depots. You’ll probably find it nearby the lighting section. It will be with other items, like a Coca-Cola mini fridge, some ice cream maker, and maybe some microwave. The boxes of the products will be in sort-of a pile, with the displays on top and a price tag attached nearby for each item.

The cooking chamber is made of thick solid glass, as well as the flange of the heating unit. The glass bowl thing sits in a metal frame with plastic handles and rubber feet. The product comes with a metal extension ring to raise up the cooker to increase the space inside. It also comes with two grills, a flat(ish) one and a raised one. And it comes with some poor-man’s tongs which is not spring loaded and uses two assemblies of wireframe joined with a piece of plastic.

Only $33! We got one.

I tested it and discovered that this oven has something very interesting and unusual. The heating element seems to be some sort of giant halogen tube. It lights up like a halogen lamp!! I’ll try to get pics of it later.
There are two dials: the first one is the timer and it controls the main system (fan and power light, and also allows element to run). The second dial is a temperature selector and it controls the heating element itself. Also, the handle of the unit has a switch so the unit only operates when the handle is down; if you pull it up it shuts off.

33$ for a large quality oven made of glass and metal! Sure beats the garbage NuWave oven. A while ago we got a Nuwave mini for $70 or $80 because we were transient and it was a compact portable oven. The NuWave ovens use a plastic (WTF?!) dome. On the first one, the plastic dome cracked up all over. We replaced that, and then with the second one the power head overheated and the thermal cutoff failed. NuWave ovens are an absolute piece of crap. This is only $33, much cheaper than the tiny NuWave mini and hopefully much better quality too. We’ll see how this lasts!

I’ll try to get pics of it later.

Hmmm, This baby dropped to $19. I may have to get one as I destroyed my first one modding the hell out of it multiple times. Big time pencil beam. Could give some very high kCd's modded with dedomed XP-L. It's almost all plastic (housing, reflector, lens), but has a great reflector and a decent heat sink inside. It gave the second highest reflector throw with an MT-G2 for me. Second only to a 130mm reflector from Illumination Machines.

A small fan to the heat sink with some air vents should be all that is needed for an XML/XPL driven hard.

Probably one of the best big time throw for dollar options around.

Thanks for the great info. Sure sounds good. Please keep us posted.

I got the last glass convection oven cooker at our HD
My hand is in the pic for scale, this looks like a really nice cooker for the money!

I have been following these 18V Ryobi “Hard Surface Blowers” for months. They are called “Hard Surface Blowers” because they are not powerful enough to blow leaves in grass but will do a fine job dusting sidewalks etc. I had already bought one at the clearance price of $75.06 months ago. I have been waiting for them to go to the “3” price and actually carry around the UPC code that I cut off my carton.
Last week I noticed that they were all gone. I scanned the cutout I carry at self checkout and it scanned for a penny. I asked the price guy what happened and he said he pulled them but they never went to the”3” price. I checked the other store across town and they too had pulled them and it scanned at a penny. Any other HD I have been in since, still had them for $75.06.
Yesterday when I went into my home town HD, they were BACK! (this is too good to be true) I ran over to the self checkout and scanned my cutout - scanned back up to $75.06 What the……
Then I noticed that the ones that were in the garden center had gotten wet, the boxes were ruined, but the units were OK. Today I talked to the manager and got them for $25 each. Finally, I got them for the price I was hoping for. The blower with battery and charger is a very good deal.
This is what they looked like BEFORE the boxes got rained on

Don’t know why I got these other than the price

I don’t have the gun, but the staples and the finish nails are Stainless Steel. I guess I’ll buy anything made of Stainless if it’s cheap enough

Forgot to mention, when you open the box, you will find that it comes with fresh Home Depot scent.

 Especially the user manual.

^ Searched online. No stores near me have any more of those cookers.

That's what I get for ignoring this thread when a new post hits it.

I realized this was a hot item when I saw just 1 left at my HD

Did anybody even notice the last 2 pics in my last post are wrong?

i screwed up some how and will fix it when I get to a PC

No not at all… What is wrong with them?

??

You’re right they are correct. I thought I saw the wrong pics on my iPhone while I was out. I make a lot of typing mistakes, etc. with that thing!

Here are pics of the oven’s heating element and fan, as well as the light reflecting below.

Does anyone know what kind of heating element it uses? Is it a halogen lamp or does it have some other gas inside? Or is there just a vacuum?

Because this has a thin filament and functions as a lamp, I would think this element would have a limited lifespan versus the simple resistive wire which lasts virtually forever.

When I looked at the one in the store, it looked like a heating element. I suppose when on it could glow. Depending on how brightly it glows would determine to some extent how long it would last. I suspect very strongly that actually it doesn’t glow that brightly. It may seem kinda bright but for a lamp, halogen or otherwise to produce enought heat for this oven, it would be incredibly bright. If you remember quartz heaters, they had a heating coil inside of a quartz tube and they glowed a little.
I have not yet unboxed ours, it’s for my wife. But my guess is that it is not heated by a light bulb the way the Suzy Homemaker Oven was.
EDIT:

I did some checking and these are available elsewhere
EBay $68
Amazon $61
Sears.com $115
Also one other site called it a “Halogen infrared bulb”
An infrared bulb will last longer that a bright white bulb because the filament isn’t driven as hard

Another Home Depot store has plenty, that’s my SK-68 on top for scale

I missed this deal at this store………

But caught it at this one!

Yesterday they had 2 at $122.00 each

This morning they only had 1 at $10.00, now they have none

For those that are interested, the pistol safe is down to 53.06. The next price drop would be somewhere around 18.03

I got 3 of these and they threw the fourth one, the display, in for free. The base is heavy and will support the light at any position. 2 will be used as uplights in our curio cabinet and the other 2 will be used as work lights.

Remember the Defiant 5C light? this store had them for 9.88. Cheapest I ever saw on clearance was $12.00. I may have found one for a penny once, I’m not sure.

This is the kind of Christmas gift a man would receive from a Niece.

An LED Crescent Light!

It lights up! I wonder where the batteries go?

3 paks of GE LED bulbs. This price does not include any subsidies, a straight up price. I didn’t get any, they look VERY cheaply made.

I did like the small form factor though.

Last week while we were on vacation somewhere in NY on an impulse I swung off the highway, I saw a Home Depot. While my wife went next door to the WalMart I went in and found another one of the 18V Ryobi blowers.
This time for a penny!

WAT O-O

Wow $120 ceiling fan only $10 wow wow wow
Are they still selling them in all stores at that price?? I gotta go look for them next time…

dchomak why is it only you who gets all these unbelievable stuff?! Are you just so doggone lucky?

All of the (few) items I have found that are old enough to be a penny (older than 8 months 1 week) were not a penny!! :_( Maybe this is a hoax >.>

It’s true I lead a charmed life. That Discovery Fan-Light that I missed out on was 2 days ago. It was gone already but the next day I found myself in another HD at about 10AM. I walked into the lighting section and asked the first guy I saw if they had any “215-541” He took out his scanner and looked it up and said yep, we have one and he led me over to it. As we got there, the pricing lady was just getting up off her knees at the shelf it was on. 10 seconds earlier she had just put the $10 sticker on it! They both looked at me with a bewildering look as if to ask How did you know?
That $122 fan that went to $10 the next day was also because I knew another store had already marked it down to $10 the previous day. I went last night, snapped the $122 photo and then went back this morning and earlier that morning the price must have been changed to $10. I was lucky that the person the grabbed the first one before I got there didn’t take both.
So as far as I know, at least in this area, there are 3 different ceiling fans getting marked down to $10
They are
“Discovery”
“Caicos”
and one I have missed “Farmington”

The Farmington is a cheaper fan with a list price of only $79.95

Definitely, not a hoax. Many of us (including me, I may have been the first to report one) have found them. They are also documented on other web sites. I do think that dchomak has a has some things that make him seem charmed (I call it the finder power, after that very short TV series):

  • dchomak is very observant and notices details.
  • He is willing to take the time to report his findings so other can get them too. I (and I bet many others) tend to buy and not report.
  • He is near stores that move big volumes of high profit items. Those stores are too busy moving real money makers and don't want slow moving stuff cluttering up the store. The stores I visit, however, need to make as much as they can on all items and don't discount as fast as his stores.
  • Many others have become savvy at snatching up or hiding these items so that they can eventually get them at a penny.

Wait I thought I wrote a message but it disappeared… ugh I probably did something and lost it

Don’t you hate it when you write a message but then you lose it all? |(

Anyway I said it was funny that they gave dchomak the display for free :stuck_out_tongue: I mean why would they do that? Are they discontinuing it or something?

Those LED bulbs may look lousy but they aren’t really. They last longer than the Philips Basic Bulb, though they’re less efficient and a bit more expensive. The BrightStik, as well as several others, are competitors to the Philips bulb, but none of them have defeated Philips. GE got very close though.
Because of the compact tubular shape and the cool white version, this may be worth buying for certain applications.
